Certainly, my writing ability is a subjective call and I have no problem with that criticism. However, I take exception to the notion that I've never broken news.

When I was a full-time writer at the BCT, I broke various trade stories including Denny Neagle to Atlanta, Kris Benson to the Mets and Brian Giles to San Diego. All were very significant moves at the time.

I also broke the story that Jason Kendall has agreed to what remains the largest contract in club history as well as the firing of Cam Bonifay as GM, the hiring of Neal Huntington as GM and the hiring of John Russell as manager.

Granted, I did not break any stories in recent years but I was also working in a freelance capacity the last six seasons, so it wasn't if there was incentive to put int the time to break stories for all the more the BCT pays.

People complain all the time about the media getting the facts wrong. Well, writing I never broke news is factually incorrect.
