This is hilarious. Does he think this is news? This system has been in effect since the Forbes Field days. They use as many ushers as they think are necessary based on the pre-sale and the likely gate sale (understandably non-existent this month).

The ushers usually come to the stadium and the assignments are made on seniority. Those who don't make the cut don't make any money. They're actually doing them a favor by telling the ones low on the seniority list to stay home for these weeknight games. They're not going to work, so there's no sense in spending money on gas and parking to come down to the North Side for no reason.

EXCLUSIVE! No need to clear space in the DK trophy case for a Pulitzer on this one.
