Shribman never ran a newspaper in his life. He was a reporter in DC, for which he won a Pulitzer, then a bureau chief in DC and terminally boring columnist. He has no more of a gut feel for running and leading a daily paper than Al Bundy of "Married with Children." All he's doing is trying to hold on to his prestige of being an Exec Editor and not a very good one. Therefore he'll do what he's told as long as he's allowed to bloviate to his Washington insider pals on Sundays. I don't blame the advertisers for this. I doubt very many bikers read the PG to begin with.
