Hey, Blogger Kid: If you legitimately had the story, stand up for yourself. Don't worry about extending an olive branch and getting along with everybody. It's not going to happen anyway.

If you leaned on Biertempfel's info, then own up to that and resolve to do better.

This has always been a competitive business. I want to get a story before you do. If you steal my story and try to pass it off as your own, then I'm going to be angry and I'm going to tell you about it. Nothing wrong with that.

We are NOT all in this together when it comes to competing for stories. One of the problems with inexperienced people is they don't know how to cover a beat and don't know how to navigate the competitive nature of chasing stories.

If you had it first, stand up and say so. If you borrowed someone else's info, you deserve to have your butt handed to you.
