In reply to: You Are Not the Boss of Me 's message, "Re: travel piece on Scaife divorce" on 14:26:05 10/25/07 Thu

It's understandable that some of our hapless Trib staffers, aka "Trib Kiddies," were embarrassed and mortified by the Washington Post article pointing out the trials, tribulations of their boss's personal life while he aspires to become a bush-league, Western Pa. version of Rupert Murdoch.

So let's give this indignant poster a bit of education, some of which should be obvious to them if they visit this site with any regularity...

They complain of "Adults who think nothing of juvenile name-calling while ostensibly pontificating about professional ethics on >anonymous Internet message boards."

Well, if anyone would look around here, it seems that a near-majority of the recipients of the nastiest and most frequent slamming are staff from the other paper. Look at the most frequently seen names: Owen, Sheridan, Bennett, Specter, Norman, Roddy, Shribman (aka "Beltway Dave"), Simpson..." Last I checked, these people are not employed by any Trib-related entity.
>
And then there's their next complaint: "One would think a wise, thoughtful person like yourself would dutifully avoid a silly term like 'Trib Kiddies,' lest it detract from the seriousness of your message."

You see, the behavior of some of the Trib staffers who are criticized, as well as their friends and supporters here, tends to reflect a certain immaturity. There's a snarky "STOP HITTIN' ME, DUDE! I'M COOL! I DO TOO WORK FOR A REAL PAPER!" tone these folks use in posting here. It naturally conjures up images of foolish, unprofessional children playing at journalism at what looks like a real newspaper but as per recent revelations is essentially a megabuck-losing hobby for its obsessed owner.
>
Oh, and then there's the REALLY amusing one: "In reality, your moral indignation suggests more about you than anyone else."

Well, what exactly does that "moral indignation" suggest? Please give us solid specifics. Seriously, though, that sentence makes little sense. Therefore, there can be little doubt it was written by a--dare I say it--TRIB-KIDDIE.

As for the question, "Seriously, who gets so worked up such things?" Let's just say, people who know the difference between real journalism and the nonsense practiced over at the old Clark Bar factory.

As for "Now please excuse me while I go pay my electric bill," well, if you work for Dick, unless you're way up on top, you have to be hustling to pay ANY bill, don't ya?
