I have finally got the camcorder!!!

Playing around with and getting to know the thing. I have done some test rotoscoping too, not sure if I'll post/release them yet though.

Still working in the rotoscoping phenomenon that I have come to call "the mystery of the missing blade". In those this is if you film someone waving around a prop sword (in my case light sabre), and they are swinging it at such a rate that in certain frames of the video, the blade is simply invisible. This isn't good when you're trying to draw a mask over the blade to transform it into a Jedi weapon! I figured that you need to increase the shutter speed of the camera. In principal this gives the camera great time-resolution, and it seems to be working, although when it always churns how video at 25fps, I'm not quite sure how the shutter speed effects things, unless each of those 25 frames are an average image over whatever the frame rate is. The downside is, it make the footage duller, even with maximum exposure compensation, and I'm not exactly ready to set up a lighting rig in my living room!

I'm also taking some time out to learn Maya!
