>Apologies for being slow to put up responses here. Life has thrown me a bit of a curve ball in that I was laid off work out of the blue, and I'm in the middle of figuring out what I'm going to do.
That's okay. I don't really expect anyone to check this board daily after it was dead for years. Good luck with your job search - the same fate literally missed me by an inch this week.
>I've dabbled with Path of Exile myself, and it definitely does capture that grittier feel that D3 managed to lose. Game has a lot of good points, but that said for some reason it's not managed to -really- grab me as of yet. Maybe I'm just getting old and jaded these days.
When I first discovered PoE I was like "meh, microtransactions, indie NZ developer, login screen and options UI looks cheap as something from 2002", but then decided to try it out anyway and dived from the deep end of the pool - Nemesis league, with a weird variant build, self-found, with no reading on bosses or plot beforehand.
It turned out to be a fun experience, much like the days of Diablo I mixed with Titan Quest. The build (a witch i made into an archer, with a supporting array of curses - mostly Vulnerability and Enfeeble - and a single summoned pet to distract enemies, Raise Spectre + Minion Life) went through the Normal difficulty surprisingly well, surviving Brutus, Merveil, Vaal Oversoul and even those yellow glowing shield Undying Evangelists in the Sceptre of God. An unique Death Bow that dropped in the Sceptre helped a lot, i stuck a Burning Arrow + Faster Attacks + Added Cold Damage in it and with Wrath aura up just facerolled everything to the top of the tower, including all the lesser unque bosses and even the first, human, form of Dominus.
Then he morphed into the lovecraftian insect thingy and the blood rain started. As I purposefully went in blind, without any knowledge of tactics, and without a single flask to stop stacked bleeding, the "hexing archer" gloriously kicked the bucket.
Fun times.
