They reason that it's good for them to have the British government occupy the six county welfare/police state, with British taxpayers footing the bill, because the loss of those six Irish counties from the UK would serve to encourage the SNP and its supporters, thus hastening a free Scotland and taking the profits from North Sea oil out of the taxable revenues of the UK, which in turn would be likely to tax the wealthy English (and/or their companies) more.

By the way Mac Duff, what would the Scots do if the English cancelled their elections?
