Hamilton Mayor Glen Gilmore appears to be fed up with the broken promises, the gerimandering and the continued human rights abuse of minorities by the Brits.

The Times editor ought to spend a few moments with the mayor to get an understanding of the connection between MI5 & Special Branch and the occupied counties of the north of Ireland.

His ignorance is alarming.

I agree that dialogue is the road map to peace but it must be forthright and the words followed up by honest & fair actions.

If Mr Meara's statement is accurate and not twisted to fit the story, he needs to review the last 850 years of agreements and the weight that the Saxon word carries.

As Uncle Paddy says, "they'll brake an agreement before the ink's dry".
