My mailbox has a lonely vigil to keep at the side of the highway. Twice a week, except for holidays weeks, when the service is only once, the rural route person comes to visit. He/she always leaves a bundle. If nothing else there are the Flyers aka Paper leaves from unwitting trees. The snow plow and the occasional vehicle have bumped, knocked it over and even rendered it unusable. It started on a post, moved to t-braced tire; it started bigger than a bread box, was remodeled to a much smaller version salvaged from the scraps.
My only emotion towards my mailbox is a little worry that between delivery at 11:30ish and our driving the two miles around 12:30ish is that some enterprizing thief will discover the cache of unprotected mail. Human nature being what it is.
Now my E-mail box can evoke real passion!
Onward,
Liz
