Subject: Is the Pirce of Oil Pushing Up Entry Fees for Contests?

I received notice of a literary contest for poets and short story writers 'sponsored' (a questionable term in this case) by the Jobal Arrozoles Foundation, which is based in the Kitchener Guelph area. Short story submissions from 40,000 words (!). The prize $1,000. The entry fee - $75.00.

I know everything is getting more expensive, but that fee will buy a lot of postage. I also suspect a rip-off, though I admit that hunch is based only on the amount they want writers to pay, which they say will be put toward the cost of copying submissions for the jury members.

Humph!
