Subject: Email submission etiquette

There are lots of mags that now accept e-mail submissions - even some Canadian literary journals do. It's definitly handy and saves on postage. This week, I sent a couple of things out via e-mail and was tempted to use the 'request read receipt' function. Then I thought that might be annoying but wondered if anyone has ever done so and got a response?

In the end I suppose an electronic submission isn't any different from a postal submission. You send, and often have no idea whether it was ever received. The only mag I know that has a terrific way of checking on an e-mail submissions is Glimmer Train.

I guess that's why all writers need to be dreamers and optimists.
