My god, agents are surly characters. Sounds like this one hadn't had its coffee or pills or whatever yet. Saying "thank you for your time and consideration" is just common courtesy, just a polite way to close things up. I use it on all my queries and have never been accused of "groveling". Even in some cases when I was!

I guess the poor writer can just chalk that one up to experience. Do you know who the agent was? Someone not very professional, sounds like.
