Personally, I hate Times with a passion. It doesn't make sense to me that the main font that is used in communication is one that was developed by a newspaper to be more compact. There are lots of more readable fonts out there.

I typically use Garamond or Palatino (very common ones). They have wider letters, which makes them easier to read, and the ratio of small to big letters is smaller (i.e. a lower-case o is bigger compared to an upper-case T in Garamond than in Times), which makes the text seem bigger to the reader.

However, there are also places that demand Times or (gack) Courier. I suspect that this is to ensure the page count will
