In a parallel quick and dirty exploration of the likely events etc. for a real team game, I was taken aback to see that on turn 37 all Russian regular army units were withdrawn.

Looking at the game logs after the fact, I found that there were multiple notifications of a game engine event bug.

This seems like a concern. Why won't the scenario designers comment on this?

Hello,
What version of TOAW are you using? I have just spent the last hour or so going through a scenario dump of FiTE v.5 from TOAW III. Prior to doing the dump I did a conversion by opening the scenario and then immediately saving it. Anyway, going through the dump file finds no mention of any "Withdraw" event naming the Soviet 12th Mech Corps, 202nd Mot Div. Indeed, under TOAW III, event 238 is defined as:

Event: 238, [no news]
Trigger turn: 99 (May 31st, 1942).
Effect: Withdraw unit (Axis 1st SS Mot Div, LSSAH Aufklar)

Looking for "Trigger turn: 37" gives the following result:

Event: 467, [no news]
Trigger turn: 37 (October 26th, 1941).
Effect: Withdraw army (Axis KG28 / LG1, 1./2./3./KG28)

Looking for "Withdraw army (Soviet" shows the following results:

Event: 465, [no news]
Trigger turn: 186 (March 31st, 1943).
Effect: Withdraw army (Soviet 20th Army, 64th Naval RB).

Event: 473, [no news]
Trigger turn: 82 (April 1st, 1942).
Effect: Withdraw army (Soviet Fort Regions, 4th FR)

None of this is meant to say that there is no problem. I've seen this issue addressed at a couple of other places on the web, details escape me at the moment, so it is real. The thing to figure out is if it is an intermittent problem, one caused only when specific circumstances arise, etc. Anyway, I hope the above helps somebody to figure out what's going on.

Just my $.02,
Ron

I would like to hear from the designers. I have just started a game of this and we are at turn 8. It takes a long time to play. Lots of fun tho. But I hate to think that at around turn 37 the whole thing is going to crash. I wonder if we should continue playing? Time is too precious to waste on a buggy game.....

I have reached the autumn ceasefire turn 141 to discover all the regular Russian units have been withdrawn. To the Authors, is the scenario corrupted and how can it be fixed? I've been playing this scenario for ages and would like to carry on! Many thanks.

The bugs in withdrawal of wrong units is not a problem in the scenario itself, but with TOAWIII. It will be fixed in the coming TOAWIII patch. More info on this from the game developers can be found at following link:
