Author: a sketch so bad it's almost a classic
Subject: Let's talk about Gilly

So, I was reading the god-awful IMDB board, and someone was talking about how Gilly is making fun of old comic strips, and is therefore funny. Now, while this piece of information does nothing to relieve the lasting pain I feel from having watched even one of these horrific scenes, it at least offers a bit of explanation as to what the hell these writers think they're doing.

What does everyone think? Was this intention obvious to everyone but me? Does it change your opinion? I'm all for humor that requires a little outside knowledge, and maybe a second look, but in this case it still just doesn't work. The execution is bad. The pacing is excruciating. The character is just unpleasant in every way. But I wonder if to other people, it's one of those "so bad it's good" things? I guess it has to be, at least to Lorne.
