OK, so we changed our phone number. The home phone number will be 585.298.9349. That should be hooked up about a week from today. For those that are interested in why the change, read on...if not, resume your normal internet browsing...

....................................

We switched to Vonage (www.vonage.com). For just $24.99/month we get unlimited local and long distance calling. It works through your broadband internet connection. It is cheaper than using Frontier. Our local phone service was $32.02/month after taxes/fees on it's own (that included call waiting and caller id). Then we were averaging about $15/month in long distance.

The Vonage monthly bill will be $27.06 including all the taxes. That gets us caller id, call waiting, voicemail (which can be checked from home, any other phone, or even the INTERNET), and a long list of other features I"ll probably never use.

In short, we're saving $20 per month and getting more.

If you're interested in doing it, you can probably keep your old phone number, most people can. We couldn't because we'd already shut off the North Chili number but not yet had the Gates number turned on.
