Hi, after reading all the messages posted, i realised that i nearly became a victim of timeshare scam.

Yesterday evening, while i was walking from Heeren towards Paragon, i was approached by this Chinese PR student doing a short survey relating to tour (which country i would like to visit etc....) Usually when i see surveyors coming, i would shun them as if they r pests. i dunno what came over me yesterday and without hestiating, i agreed to do it!

After 5 mins of asking this and that, she produced a stack of scratch n win cards and asking me to pick 1. I was really surprise because i was merely helping her to do a survey only and i really get to win something from that???? So i picked 1 from her and scratch it, she told me that i have won a $25 voch from ck tang if i m nt mistaken. I told myself this was too gd to be true.

Nw this is where the big time scam really came, she told me to pick another card saying that i m entitled to 2 scratch cards. Wow! Since i was feeling lucky the 1st time round, so why not. After scratching it, she shouted in joy to her nearby colleague that i had won the top prize of 7 nights accommodation for 2 in a luxurious vacation apartment in one of the resort areas listed in their brochure.

(* the scratch n win card is such that each colored star indicate each diff. category of prizes. For my case, i gt a yellow star in the 1st attempt and a red star for the top prize)

But here's the catch, in order to claim my prizes, all i need to do is to spend some time to listen to some tour presentations only, so since i am meeting my friend abt 1 hr later, so why not.

So the surveyor brought me to Fable House where i received a presentation by a representative of IRN about ATC.
After repeated hard selling by the manager, i stood my ground of nt signing up for a 30yr membership saying that i gt a lot of financial committments. But the manager was no t going to give up hope, she even suggested to me to try out the 3yrs membership for a fee of $3000! I was really firm abt nt joining and she gt no choice but to release me.

As the representative of IRN walked me out to the counter to collect my gifts, she gave me a very disappointing look and walked away without even thankin me for giving my time for listening to the presentation! What the heck!

So i went home thinking abt the whole incident and i decided to check it out on the net to see whether there is such a company in Singapore. I happened to chance upon this forum which made me realise that i was nearly duped!!!

I would like to say Thks for setting up this forum and educate those who are not fully aware of this scam.

U are so lucky Derrick. U didn't get hooked with IRN. Anyway check out your free 7-day holiday voucher which u won scratching cards and u will realise that it isn't free after all! U will need to pay US$40 to just book for that holiday accomodatiion and then hope they send u a reply on your confirmed resort. And that is not all. U are obliged to listen to another timeshare crap at the resort when u go on holiday. Don't forget u pay your own air-fares, transfers, sight-seeing and food bills. All for that so-called free accomodation in some resort.
This is their style. If they don't get u to sign up for the 30 yrs renewable ATC membership then they will come up with another holiday gimmick called a 'pack' - a compact holiday scheme ostensibly to let u try the holiday membership but actually getting u to enjoy holidays with RCI without being a member of RCI (u don't have to pay the $150 annual RCI subscription fee timeshare owners pay). But the catch is IRN will liaise with RCI to buy for you the 'get-away' specials upon your request. U will be billed for the get-away specials which will cost u anything from $250-$550 for a 3days to a week of accomodation. And there is also an additional charge for the guest certificate with RCI. And mind u, these so- called bookings are not guaranteed - meaning u may not get your choice holidays! How many of these accomodations can u buy in a year! But u are paying them $1000 per year for 3 years! Congratulations!

Hi there,

I had EXACTLY the same experience as Derrick last night
(April 30, 2006). I am VERY much amazed why these
kind of scams are still at LARGE! I'm a tourist here in
Singapore and personally, I have a great respect with the
Singapore Government and I cannot believe that these kind
of activity still exist up to now. I would be warning my
friends, relatives and families about this operation.

May I ask if you availed of your 7-day free holiday tour?
