I am Mariner, I too bought an alternate year plan, some more low season without realising what low season means. Only found out weeks later after receiving my catalogue.
Anyway, I had signed for resell of my plan, through broker. I thought I found a way out of this. The broker told me it will take time, surely can sell, only when I can reclaim my money. Initially, thing seems to get off fine, but soon turn sour. You see, I was aksed to top up my plan, paid $1200 for upgrade to make my plan favouriable and sellable to others. Collect the 1st month payment for my sales, then economy turn bad, the broker had problem getting it off. Then follow changes of plan and other things. Called broker teice a month to check adn trace what's going on, but no good news with each call. I gave up 2 few months already, but read from papers lately, the same broker went missing. I guess I was more fortunate, I didn't have to pay $2500 for whatever it was claim in ST.
If you have some other plans, please do let me know.
In between, I had paid my 1st maintenance fees, but got the 2nd one few weeks ago, wonder wheter should I pay for it. According to my broker, he should be paying for it due to the plan I sign up to sell.

For information, the broker also told lots of other information which I am not sure of any accuracy.
1. He mentioned that, my timeshare is actually only worth about US$500, but ended paying so much due to fees and salary. Timeshare original pricing is very cheaper but whoever sold it to us, making tonnes out of it.
2. Time share resell, will be a tedious time consuming process. its a demand supply thing, no body buy, no market to resell. they simply roll this plan over and over again.
3. Due to this, possibility of oversold and not sufficient to move around those who bought. such as queue to book.
4. Problem with maintenance fee as many not paying up. So current plans will also change in view of selling new ones.

Hi, I just bought the Alternate Year Plan too. Paid about S$2,200/ thru my credit cards- for it and will start to pay the installments at about S$200/- per month this August '04. I have read the messages sent by you people and am a little worried. Should I continue to pay or should I stop and demand a refund. Since I just lost my job, it will be difficult for me to meet my payments. They offered me Australian holidays. I did not know that it was a timeshare thing. Had I know, I would not have bought it. Any advise anyone? My e-mail is : lord_belgarian@yahoo.com
