Scott,

Thank you for the information. It is good that we have this website so that we can be warned of other scams. I have already registered with hcspore03. Hoping for the best to come.

Regards,
Wylie

I'm also contemplating if I should engage Vanasia to sell my timeshare.. I was recommended by 1 lady (she saw my ad on Yahoo and recommend vanasia to me). She sold her timeshare thru them and managed to retrieve 80% of the cost.

My husband went to their office last week. They have a money back guarantee package ($750) whereby will refund the $$ to you if they are unable to sell yr timeshare within 12 mths.

Anyone else has gd experience with vanasia? I really want to sell my timeshare fast.

Hi Deon,

Thanks for sharing the information you have.
It really is depressing and frustrating trying to salvage what we can from selling our timeshare/vacation club. At this point in time, we can't be very trusting considering what we already experienced. We have to be extra careful not to be lured into something that we will regret in the end. This company might just be preying on our desperation to sell.

Do keep in touch.

Best regards,
Wylie

Hi Deon,

I am well aware of your desperation to ditch your timeshare investment as soon as possible but please forgive my bluntness. It is our naivete that caused us to be trapped by these cold-blooded bloodsucking timeshare companies.

There are a lot more predators out there who are very well aware of our predicament and disguise themselves as timeshare resell companies which are actually in cahoots with the timeshare companies ... they really can't care less whether we are dead or alive as long as they can continue to extract money from us. So, don't make the same mistake twice!!!

Please take some time to read this article by the Consumer Protection Section of North Carolina Department of Justice in USA. If only our CASE had more bite and firepower ...

Timeshare Resales
-------------------
If you own a vacation timeshare, be cautious about people offering to re-sell it for a fee. Most of these sales programs are bogus. The market for resales is poor. One recent survey found that only 3.3 percent of owners reported reselling their timeshares during the last 20 years.

The Scam
----------
Unscrupulous companies may contact you by phone or mail. Salespeople are likely to tell you that the market for resales is "HOT". For an advance "listing" fee, often $300 to $500, they will promise to sell your timeshare for a price equal to or greater than your purchase price. They may offer a money-back guarantee or a $1,000 government bond if they fail to sell it within a year. Others may offer to purchase the timeshare for 80-90 percent of its appraised value if they fail to sell it.

In reality, it is very difficult to resell a timeshare. If a company promises to do so, it is likely to just take your money and give you nothing in return.

If You Want to Sell
---------------------
If you are approached by a company offering to help re-sell your timeshare, consider taking these precautions:

- Don't agree to anything over the phone until you've had a chance to check out a company. Ask the salesperson to send you written materials.

- Find out where the company is located and where it does business. Contact the Better Business Bureau, Attorney General or consumer protection offices in that area to see if there are any complaints against the company.

- Ask if the company's salespeople are licensed to sell real estate where your timeshare is located. Verify this with the state licensing board.

- Be wary of companies charging an advance fee for services. Look for a company that offers to sell for a fee only after the timeshare is sold.
