Subject: Quality Pagent Dresses versus Cheap?

Can judges tell the difference between a cheaply made Chinese-import dress and an expensive custom made one?

I know I can tell when lesser-quality fabrics and trims are used for clothes, so I'd think a a general rule a more expensive dress is worth it. However, there are lots of details on well-made clothes that are not "visual", for example boning the bodice, or whether stones are glued or sew-on. Are these details what gives the winning girl that one extra point, or do they go unnoticed?

I'd really appreciate any information from experienced pageant moms and dads!
