Lets here the thougths of running 3 kits in 8.5 outlaw nextyear. And who really does have the record since the truck didnt back it up at a race. Possibly the harvey boy. I think you guys are going to get out of hand with your class if you dont cap it. Plus dont you guys want new members instead of running them off.Look at all the guys that use to run .None now.

I say only two kits or we could limit the bottle to one 15 lb with a #6 line out of it. And I claim the record because facts are fact and the board and time slip show 5.19 and there it is. The truck also went 3-5.22s in a row Saturday night which is with in 1% of the 5.19.

I agree, we HAVE to keep this from getting out of control because if we allow 3 kits then who is to say it will stop there. We'll end up with 700 inch motors with 4 kits and this will be over before we really have a chance to get it going just like FSTA as Klint and I can both vouch for. Look what Jeff Miller is running with only 1 kit so it will still be fast and extremely competitive. 2 kits, 1 bottle, -6AN line, 10.2 deck height for big blocks and limit turbo size to maybe 76 or 88mm. We already have around 8 cars showing up for each event with 4 or 5 more coming next year for sure with a couple more we dont know about yet.
If this class gets into the 5.0s or 4.90s that will be the end of it, we will lose the car count. Everyone needs to take a deep breath and be smart about this. My two cents.

Lets allow 632ci. with twin domi's on a sheet metal intake..10.2 deck big block on two kits... lets limit turbo's to a 76 or 88mm..... That sounds real fair... how about limiting turbos to air/air intercoolers only also ? dont dorget-- no boost controllers ..dont want a 76mm air to air to have a boost controller..might get ugly.. Why?? dont you just say 'No -Turbos allowed"?

RACERS SO FAR HAVE APPROACHED THIS FROM DIFFERENT ANGLES...
MOST HAVE DECIDE TO TRY AND WIN WITH KILLER 60' TIMES AND 2 KITS.
ANOTHER APPROACH IS FORGET THE KILLER 60' TIMES AND WIN IT ON THE BIG END WITH A 3RD KIT AND KILLER MPH.
CASE IN POINT AT THE LAST 8.5 RACE HARVEY WINS OVER HUBBARD WITH A 5.21 TO KENNY 5.22. KENNY USES 2 KITS AND KILLER 60' APPROACH. HARVEY SO FAR IS BIG MPH WITH 3 KITS. NOW HOW COULD A RACE GET ANY CLOSER??

WE CAN'T PENALIZE SOMEONE THAT USES A DIFFERENT APPROACH, LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO KLINT WHEN HE WENT THE 5.19 -HE WAS LEGAL 75# OVER WEIGHT AND THE CLASS "BLEW THE FUCK UP".. WE HAVE TO LET A HORSES RUN, MAYBE PULL BACK ON THE BRIDLE A LITTLE BUT NOT JERK IS HEAD OFF!!!

CHANGE THE NAME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS NOT " OUTLAW 8.5 " YOU HAVE WAY TO MANY RULES TO BE OUTLAW. This is a great class but please change the name to Limited 8.5 cause you guys are all over the board with rules this rules that LOL. Goodluck next year with the class guys but please call it what it is and loose the "OUTLAW" name.
Tuff Street will be the show next year. Tuff Street, 8.5 ,Mean Street, and Backhalfs will be a nice show next year. There are over 30 cars that fit Tuffstreet in the Houston and Austin area. There looks to be at least 15 cars in the 8.5 class in the Houston, Austin , Louisiana area. Add Mean Street, Backhalfs , and index racing and you have yourself a very nice show that will pull ALOT of spectators!

How about turbo cars or turbo's. Limit them to 2-4 turbo's so they can work on the 60' and the big end. ha, ha.
Joe I thought TT5 was dead. There were 22 TT5 cars at Evadale last Saturday. 2/3 from Texas.

Hey Boosted, first off thats just something I threw out there about the turbo size. I didnt put that much thought into it because YOU GUYS ALWAYS CRY ABOUT THE RULES BUT NEVER SHOW UP TO RACE!!!!!!!
Joe, I agree with you, I think thats fine to have diversity in the class and I dont think that its a bad idea to penalize the faster cars with weight, delayed tree, etc but the question is how to effectively police it was my concern. We will really need a tech director who is on top of several different weights and tree staggers and cooperative track personnel to make it all work.
But as far as your suggested rules go, we can play that game and come out with 4 or 5 kits, etc and really have a shootout, I just hope enough people can come along for the ride so we keep the class!!!!

I don't understand that -if he can't hang he needs to get out of the kitchen- not whine to everyone and get you guys to vote to "halt the class" where he is. Who will or what will be on his "hit list" when somebody else gets to a 5.21?? He cried till Klint add an extra #200 pounds. He gets out run by a kid from lousiana by just .01 and he calls everyone but God wanting to slow things down!
Kenny already has a deal with another track to run 8.5 races next year with them. I think he is trying to do his on thing, which is fine with me. He already told me he would run with the TXDRL as long as i don't piss him off. Then he implied he will take you guys and go race elsewhere. I get bitchin if i change the rules and i get threats if i don't. We all have choices in life and the great thing about America we have the right to exercise them. just sayin

Joe, I want to be clear about my position here. I have NO interest in Kenny's Nova. Kenny is my friend and helps tune my car, for a fee might I add!! I help Mike with the Bad White Z whenever he needs it but thats about all the actual race interest I have here. I have my own thoughts and ideas about this class, some agree with Kenny and some agree with you. My car will not be a factor in this class, it is not fast enough and wont be anytime soon so this has nothing to do with my car. Joe, like I said I agree with where you're going I just dont know how you're gonna enforce everything.
You're still alright in my book Joe, no hard feelings, just some differences of opinion.

one thing you are over looking how good your car count was for the new class. about 8 every time. i believe no one missed a race because there motors were hurt. that is the one reason for trying to slow the amount af NOS being used.if we don't hurt our motors then you well have cars at your race, 8 plus next year all with in a .10 of each other. for the 200 lbs. on Clint it was 120 lbs. and if you think about it that made for closer racing. i don't think Clint or Robert have a problem with it.
just like true 10 and outlaw 10.5. i can think of about 5 or more cars in each class that were down for half the season, due to broken motors. not always is it a money problem most of the time its a parts problem.just because you have the money to just build a new motor when you want doesn't mean eveone else can.
that shit about me being broke was some fucked up shit. i bet my land taxes for one year cost more than you house. hahahahah now whos broke. remember i didn't start the personal shit you did
i have talked to some new racers for next year they are fine with my ideas. and these guys have spent the big money on outlaw racing. now they are ready to go racing at the track instead of working at the track

If so, you really need to get your facts right before you run your mouth and make comments you no nothing about. I'm someone who does have my facts right so let me clarify for you since Kenny's life is so important to you: Wayne Long asked Kenny Hubbard to come drive and tune his car. It was a mutual business decision to end the Out Law 10.5 racing and there are no hard feelings between the two. The orange Nova is not borrowed it belongs to Kenny & Bert Golden.
Although if you talk to Bert he'll say it belongs to Kenny. And your comment about Naiser given him the boot and no more free shit, you should be a bit more specific. There's nothing to boot him from and nothing he needs for free.

We have the transmission out of the Cavalier form last year in the truck and it is just fine. He fixed the glitch we kept having last year also. I would say at leats 70 plus runs on it. Just saying.

Houseracer, not sure who you are but I was running the scales in Evadale when asked to at the last race. I have been running the scales at all of their races that I was able to make it to. Kenny and the rest of the 8.5 guys are nice guys and have never given me any grief; therefore, I don't mind scaling them or any other class for that matter so please state facts...... P.S. I scale cars for OTTA and TXDRL so you know who I am. I have never had any racers give me a hard time!!!!!
Honestly, it's B.S. like this that messes up the racing around the Houston area. I agree, make up a set of rules and stick to them!!! Make SMALL changes where needed to keep the racing good and let it eat....... See you guys next season.

The reason we stepped up to the 5.80 from 6.20 is there are a lot more opertunities to race. Its not hard we did it with a 100 shot. Why delute the payout with so many classes? Build your car for the most popular class and then there will be more payout availiable. A race we went to a month ago that had 33 cars and the payout was around 2200. bucks!
I do have one suggestion....Progressive Payout! The more cars the bigger the purse! That will bring in the cars.

use a hack saw or sawzall. if you use a torch the heat affected zone will soften and you get more than you want. I guess you could wrap a ice cold wet rag near the cut and do it fast with a torch. I hack sawed mine and it lowered exactly what i cut off. 1 coil gave me 2 inches. Its tough high-carbon steel. Buy a bunch of blades !

Kenny - I can not keep up with you guys with my setup with 1 bottle / 2 kits. I just can not keep up - so I guess that I would be out of your 8.5 races with this rule.
Joe - If you keep the rules the same with the weight penalty (or something similar) then I will be running at your events next year.
You guys need to stop the pissing contest - it is in the best interest for everyone (promoters,racers and fans) if we can come up with one set of rules and everyone knows that.
Hell all I want to do is race next year. Had way to much fun last year and I did not even get in trouble with the wife because she knew where I was.

Why does it matter if you have one or 2 bottles????? All you have to do is run ALOT of bottle pressur and run the first kit rich then you still have plenty of bottle pressure for the second kit. Yes they will work on some street applications. Yes they will leak. The better the collector the less they leak. If the car has to be dynoed stiffed or O2 sensor inspection you may have a problem.

I like 3000 lbs for SB, but thats just me so I don't have to add all that much weight.
What is the HP difference between an 82 jet and a 68 jet? I'm thinking 68 is around 150 horsepower and 82 250? Thats a pretty big difference for just a 27ci difference. 27ci does not equal 100 horsepower.
Next thing which I've asked already is how about an n/a weight? Say 2800 for 363ci and below, 2900 up to 440ci, not sure on big blocks.

Those look good, although rule 3 might need some attention. Maybe allow everyone the 82 for the first couple races and then either make weight or jet adjustments. This way the changes are based on data/results and while at the same time eliminating pumping engines, multiple jet sizes, etc.

Be carefull making too many rules...every rule you make eliminates someones car. Car Count is everything.
NO CAR COUNT= NO SHOW who wants to pay to see a crappy show.
Also every rule must be enforceable. If you can't enforce it why have it?
I like what Donny is suggesting with the following comments:
1) Just limit it to a single 2 solenoid plate. Leave yourself some room if you need to slow someone down. You can take jet from them or add a little weight.
For this reason I would not allow any turbos or blowers...They are way too hard to tech and you guys don't have the kinda of time a one of Joe's events to do it anyways. Nothing against the blower or turbo guys...but there just is not enough of you....if there were you too could have a class where 99.99% of the particapants were blowers or turbos. It is simply just too hard to tech.
2) No CID Limit....Again too hard to tech. Restrict the class to "No Tall Deck Blocks" and let it eat....My 6 year old can recognize a tall deck block just by looking at it ...NO P&G Tool required here guys.
3) Let Non Conventional Heads in with a wieght penalty....like 100 lbs or a smaller Nitrous Jet. You are eliminating cars that are already out there, built and ready to race. You guys need the car count. Just restrict it to make it fair.
4) The Stock Body rule does nothing but eliminate cars. I would not worry about a dash....the spectators can't even see it from the stands nor do the majority care. They just want to see good heads up (Wheels-Up) races they can understand(not bracket racing) BTW they really like the wheelies!!! Also, don't worrie about the stickers, lexan or fiberglass again you are just eliminating cars that you need to show up. I would word it " Stock appearing Bodys, aftermarket replacement panels OK. Car must still meet min. weight for engine/car combination".
5)Wheelie bars should be illegal...for the reason stated above...They really like to see a stock appearing cars with the Wheels-Up launches. This is way more impressive than an 8 sec Super Comp Dragser.
6)Stock Suspensions with Bolt-On's....Back to the Evil Street Roots. (BTW...you could easily talk me out of this one based on my arguments about car count. However, I do believe there are enough stock suspension heads up car around here to support the class).
7) I like the tire rule. 275 Radial are good and fit most cars. The 26 x 8.5 Tires is a really good idea. Tires should be cheap for someone to get from the Outlaw guys if you could not afford new ones. I bet you could score a set for less than $100 with a few runs on them from Tazz or someone.
8) OEM Trans only... Very Good rule. It is what most of the guys of the caliber you are looking for have anyways(read: powerglide).
I would try to make a many cars LEGAL to race as possible without making Tech'ing the cars impossible.
Anyways....just my thoughts.

these are not the rules just opion disscussion. all close but 3100sb and 3400 bb should stay, maybe 100 lb break for 360in our smaller. jet size can be 73 150hp and 82 225hp thats 50 hp diff. trying to keep it were joe are you willing to say digital programable boxes can be allowed were not talking about alot of power here.

here is the deal. why we have a ci limit. this is not texas 8.5, u want no limits then run with them. i'm not going to run with a 406 our 350,heads up with a 440. and a 18* head is more than 100lbs. mine was 4 teenths faster. ? is are we going to allow raised runner heads. joe are u saying programable boxes and controllers can be allowed our not?

i agree with thomas on weight and ci. boxes and controllers are fine. no 18* or 15* heads. also most ford aftermarket heads have some sort of raised exhaust port.

There has never really been a class for the turbo cars to run in so give us a chance before looking for an excuse to kick us out. Same top end a 413 sb with an 82 is going kick the hell out of a 427sb with a 68. So why do you think that is fair?
Speedtech 65 is 150hp and the 82 is 250hp, so you are looking at almost 100hp for 14ci. At best that 14ci is worth 20 – 28 hp, not 100.

The only things not replaced was the crank, block, and heads. It is a 4.90 bore spacing and is ready to go. All it needs is a starter and flywheel. It would cost you twice that to build this motor. Right now some grudge racers from Dallas are interested in it so you may see it soon....

this could have been said over phone or not posted here..I am a grown man and know what chances are takin on a motor settun up and never ran down track..I will check out and take apart as needed as well as the other party dont know anything but what he was told..I have a chasis that I cant afford anymore and lost interest and it does it no good settn here..So I fig it was time for change..I know the ricks and wont bitch or gripe or gossip 1 time if something is wrong or needs attention..this is race car stuff and can be fixed even if I have too spend the $$ too do so,thats the risk in this field..you should leave a name..832-259-3477

if yall are referring too a motor i had built yrs ago,it was ran and fired up..block was sleeved but fine and kit was off ebay from a nother running motor nodular crank and fine..it did crank up and go on a dyno and thats it..beariings have not been checked but should be fine,only thing i was told is too change springs out after settn so long..so it still runs

that is the old motor i sold jason..it was a dart block that the prev owner told me 3 cyl was sleeved from prev set up..crank is a nodular and good for 700-800..Good rods ..i traded it too him 4 a 2valve gt motor that had turbo pistons in it...got the block for $500...thanks

thats some funny shit i just pulled the pan off and their is no sleaves in block, iron eagle 4 bolt block at that, eagle crank, eagle h beam rods, je small inverted dome pistons with 58 cc head about 10.8 comp. $6000 firm

That engine from Jason that Fatal built is junk. That cam is from a 347 bucket and does NOT match the heads. Its all new but the combination is ALL wrong.

That stuff was All Brand New Outta the Box/Fogger n all..Assembled at Westside Mach Shop and Dynoed..Dyno numbers were lower than normal only due too little Cam n Dish Pistons..Change those 2 things and it will be way higher..
That stuff is over n Worth cost too build will cost anyone about 13k including the plumbed Foffer n Dominator Car and is still worth that..Price around..Block is about 3k alone not counting the machine work,then assemble..
