Subject: THOMAS IF YOU WOULD POST A SET OF RULES FOR EVIL STREET -PLEASE

Author:
joegolden
[Edit]
Date Posted: 11:34:27 11/05/09 Thu

THOMAS IF YOU HAVE THE TIME PLEASE POST A SET OF EVIL STREET RULES YOU THINK WOULD MAKE A NICE CLASS. START FROM SCRATCH IS JUST FINE. INCLUDE EVERYTHING YOU THINK NEEDS TO BE IN THERE.

POST 'EM WITH NUMBERS SO READERS CAN TALK ABOUT -SAY "RULE 5". I'LL COPY AND POST ALL THE RULES ON THE EVIL STREET WEB SITE. TO HAVE A MEETING IT WOULD BE KAOS WITHOUT A SET OF "TALKING POINTS". wE DO A PRETTY GOOD JOB OF HASHING OUT "STUFF" RIGHT HERE ON THE 'GOSSIP.

NOW GUYS I THINK IF WE CAN COME UP WITH A NEW CLASS, IF YOU HAVE A CAR THAT YOU WANT TO RUN IT IT, THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU.

PLEASE SIGN YOUR REAL NAME WITH YOUR COMMENTS. IT IS HARD FOR ME TO TAKE COMMENTS SERIOUS WITH JUST SOME KIND OF SCREEN NAME. IF WE GET ENOUGH REAL PEOPLE WE WILL RUN THIS CLASS. IT IS EASY TO SAY YOU WILL BE THERE OR I'M THINKING ABOUT IT AND NOT POST A REAL NAME.

I LISTEN TO THOMAS, GLASSMAN CHAD, BAD CHAD, DANIEL, BRYON B AND OTHERS THAT USE A NAME WE KNOW BECAUSE TRY THEIR DAM-BEST TO BACK UP THEIR COMMITMENTS.

LETS JUST TRY AND MAKE A FAIR CLASS FOR THE BUDGET RACER THAT HAS SOME UNIQUE FEATURES FOR THE CLASS. WE CAN HAVE SOME FUN WITH EVIL STREET -THE ABOVE MENTIONED ARE TRYING, THEY JUST NEED A LITTLE MORE HELP FROM REAL NAMES.
I APPRECIATE EVERYONE'S INTEREST!!

i think this is a great class. Started to build a car last time and when it was almost done the class was shit caned. maybe 26x8.5 for n/a and 275/60 radial for power adders i think this would level the field for every one. any rear susp. is great it helps out the leaf spring cars. the 82 pill is fine with me that is plenty of spray for that size tire. count me in will start building a car for the class asap. as soon as the rules are posted for good. also what about only having factory heads. either way count me in.
when is the meeting for the rules would like to be there. Thomas or Joe feel free to give me a call for any updates on the rules for the class. 281-224-3886

I have an '07 1/2 Dodge Dually Mega Cab 4X4. I love the Cummins motor and 6 speed automatic transmission. I can pull my 11,000 pound RV all day long between 70 and 80 MPH in hills and have never had a problem with overheating. The 4:11 gear eats into my mileage but I would not trade that truck for anything. The interior is spacious. The engine is powerful and has great tourque. I've historically been a GMC or Chevy guy but I have really enjoyed this Dodge truck. I have just under 19,000 miles on it and it is not even broken in yet. It has never been in the shop other than scheduled maintenance and for a very minor recall Chrysler issued related to the hood liner possibly loosening and posing a fire risk. It was in and out in an hour (Spring Dodge).

To each his own and I'm sure all of the non-Japanese manufactured heavy-duty trucks have their benefits and shortcomings but I would make the same purchase again if needed.

That said, I still love my 64 Chevy truck and 79 TA and my son drives my 98 GMC half ton SWB to college. Hope this helps.

Ok, I have an 86 chevy 1/2 ton with a 4 inch bolt on harwood cowl which weighs more than the stock hood for some reason which is way too heavy. My question is has anyone ever heard of taking a lift off hood and fiberglassing some hood hinge mounts so you can bolt it to the hood hinges so you can lift it up and down like a normal hood. Don't ge me wrong I know I'm still going to have to dzus it down all the way around I just wanted it to raise it up like a regular hood and use a prop rod for convienience because someone is always asking me to pop my hood and I know how much of a pain a lift off hood can be to get off by yourself ezpecially on a tank like mine. Thanks

If you are concerned about weight, as you say you are, why use the hinges? Throw them away. I bet a pair of them weighs 50 lbs.
Also, if someone wants you to pop the hood and it’s such a pain, why not say - NO.

The hinges weigh about 3 pounds a piece, I took the springs off the hinges so theres not much to them. I had a car with a lift off hood awhile back and I would always set it on top of the car when tuning in the pits, then a gust of wind came along one night and the hood went airborn and landed two cars over. It's just a hassle havin to lift it off and worry about scratching the paint and I don't have such good use with one of my arms so that has alot to do with it. Hell I guess I just want the best of both worlds.

Ok Joe input to the rule changes. #3 i still say leave the small block 410 big blocks up to 502, #7 leave the weights as you had originally and adjust when needed, #10 yeah mufflers can't delete that!, #11&12 don't adjust these, #14 this one everyone will have to debate and have a majority rule on and then #16 leave it the same as well.

the rules need to be set on a majority vote, that way when one person starts complianing then they dont have 2 run. but if someone all of a sudden make a rule chang that majority of the cars dont like then the class comes to a fall. we dont need any one running to joe pissing him off were he might do something he dont really mean to do. p.s. if you can stroke a big block to 502 then i should be able to stroke a small block to 440. and this is not a street class so i dont see were lights, floors, lexan, interior, mean shit, and realy dont if we cant use wheelie bars.

*I THINK THE 440-505 RULE IS FINE WITH THE 68 NIT. JET RULE.
*MUFFLERS SHOULD BE MANDATORY WHETHER THEY ARE AT THE HEADERS WITH TURN DOWNS OR FURTHER BACK
*SEMI STOCK FLOOR (MODIFICATIONS TO THE STOCK FLOOR NOT FULL ALLUMINUM INTERIOR)HENCE FACTORY FRAME RAILS. YOU CAN CONVERT FROM LEAFS TO LADDER BARS, BUT NO FULL BACK HALF.
*I LIKE #14, DIGITALS OK BUT NO PROGRAMMABLE TO RAMP TIMING
*AS FOR LIGHTS AND SUCH, I THINK YOU SHOULD HAVE TO RETAIN THE FACTORY LOOK. MIGHT NOT HAVE TO SHINE, BUT AS LONG AS IT'S THERE.
** I'M NOT POSTING THIS TO TRY TO MAKE THE RULES FIT MY CAR, JUST TRYING TO KEEP EVERYTHING FAIR. I HAVE STOCK FLOOR WITH WITH LEAF SPRINGS, WITH NO MUFFLERS, 2 KITS, BUT WILLING TO CHANGE TO KEEP IT A SEMI-STREET CLASS.

PART OF THE TRUNK IS CUT OUT TO FLUSH MOUNT THE FUEL CELL, AND THERE IS ABOUT 6" OF REPLACEMENT SHEETMETAL SHOWING AROUND THE CELL. IF I WAS TRYING TO LOOSE WEIGHT I WOULD'NT HAVE FRAMED THE CELL WITH SQUARE TUBING. WHAT I HAVE DONE HAS ACTUALLY ADDED WEIGHT. THE WHOLE PURPOSE WAS TO USE THE FACTORY FILLER BEHIND THE LIC. PLATE, SO I NEEDED THE CELL TO SIT AS LOW AS POSSIBLE.

Maybe charge a small membership fee when we all come to an agreement on a base set of rules and when we do have a change to be made make it majority votes rules. Use to proceeds from the membership fee for a nice trophy for the points champ... Just a thought.

IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE YOU GUYS ARE HEADING FOR A 5.80 CLASS WE ALREADY HAVE THAT. IF YOU CUT OUT THE TRUNK AND LET BACKHALF CARS RUNS -IT'S EASY TO RUN 5.80.

I FIGURED A CLASS WHERE A BASICALLY STOCK LOOKING CAR, LADDER BARS OK. NO BIG WHEEL TUBS, MAYBE MINI TUBS WITH THE BACK SEAT STILL IN. MOST IF THE INTERIOR, STOCK DASH WITH DASH PAD -NEEDS BUMPERS AND HEAD/TAIL LITES, DO NOT HAVE TO WORK. IF LEXAN WINDOWS "LOOK CLEAN", ok.. NO LEXAN SIDE WINDOWS WITH AFTERMARKET FRAMES. SIDE WINDOWS AND WINDSHIELD MUST BE STOCK LOOKING. SIDE WINDOWS AND WINDSHIELDS WITH RIVETS ALL THE WAY AROUND IS NOT "STOCK LOOKING. IF YOUR CAR HAS FULL WINDOW FRAMES AROUND THE SIDE WINDOWS, I DON'T THINK CLEAN LEXAN WOULD BE A PROBLEM.

I DON'T THINK BOLT IN FRONT SUSPENSIONS SHOULD BE ALLOWED, YOUR GETTING INTO RACE CARS, JUST ME, EASLY VOTED ON

CLEAN APPEARANCE, SOMETHING LIKE YOU WOULD SEE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITHOUT THE COPS CHASING IT! IT PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE SOME KIND OF ALMOST WOULD PASS INSPECTION EXHAUST SOMETHING ALONG THESE LINES.... MAYBE?????

I THINK FOR THE CLASS TO WORK IT NEEDS TO BE A STAND ALONE CLASS, WITH IT'S ON TYPE OF CARS. I DON'T THINK WE SHOULD CROSS POLLINATE THE 5.80 INDEX CLASS WITH EVIL STREET. WE WILL HAVE AN "UGLY" RULE FOR EVIL STREET ALSO.

CAN WE THINK IN THAT DIRECTI0N FOR A WHILE?????????? THANKS FOR EVERYONE'S IDEAS AND PARTICIPATION

With those rule the car count will drop sufficiently, the majority of the cars out there have after market suspension. Remember a 5.80 car is a mid to bottom 9 second car, I don't think it is very safe to run those kind of numbers with stock parts.

Joe you realize my all glass full interior 7 second 203 mph radial mustang would have fit everything you just listed ? stock trunk pan all glass etc etc ?
street cars dont have lexan in em.. street cars dont have trunks made of tin etc WHO CARES

you guys are argueing over should i allow or not allow shit that has barely anything to do with how the car runs.

if your limiting weight and limiting engines then shit allow lexan allow sheet metal trunks.

but dont even begin to thing the word "street" realy has anything to do with the class.

simple fact.. with nothing more then a stock suspension using a bolt in kmember, a anti roll bar, aftermarket controll arms, and stock wheel wells a mustang can go well into the 8s and even into the 7s with enough motor.
ive done it. soo the points your argueing are mute..

its the engine and power adder and weight rules are the only thing that realy matter.

tin in the trunk .. lexan who gives a god dam long as he has to weight the same as you and has to have the same suspension etc and same engine limitations.

taking away the bolt in front ends ? SO WHAT i gaurentee with drag springs and the same rear suspension you can get well into the low 5s

I personaly have seen a custom of mines turbo mustang with a stock kmember stock front controll arms with drag shocks drag springs and a anti roll bar and controll arms in the rear run 5.30s all day.

that said.. i sell MORE bolt in kmembers to daily driven mustangs then i do to racers every year.. the bolt in upr style front suspension is totaly 100 percent a street pieces

and at 599 bucks for the whole deal ? not exaclty exotic teritory.

THE 8.5 CLASS HAS DONE SO GOOD BECUASE OF THE LACK OF RULES IT ALOWS ANYONE ONE TO MAKE WEIGHT AND RUN WHEN THOMAS AND DANIEL AND CHAD ECT WERE AT THE TRACK THEY WANTED A CLASS THEY COULD RACE AND THATS WHO STARTED THE CLASS BUT IT HAS GOTTEN TO BE A CLASS WHERE YOU NEED MORE MONEY THAN THE AVERAGE RACER. THE NEW CLASS THEY WANT IS BUGET FREINDLY RACE CAR CLASS NOT STREET CAR LIKE STRICKLY STREET. FEWER RULES MORE CARS CAN QUILIFY LIMIT C.U. AND NOS/TURBO/BLOWER AND WEIGHT. WHO CARES WINDOWS TRUNKS JUST MAKE WEIGHT. THE 5.80 CLASS IS NOT RUN ALL OUT NOT THE SAME.

There's a ton of them in the index cars also. Great product, price and great service before during and after the sale.

how is the 76mm going to be measured?at the wheel or in the compressor inlet?can we run a larger turbo and install a reducer in the inlet?let's talk about weights and restrictions for turbo/blower cars. we'll try this class with the orange/white turbo mustang.

why not make the turbo 88mm most guy run 88s . are there a set of rules in place yet ? I wold like to run this class if the rules give a turbo car a chance in hell . as a turbo guy I would have to run a F.A.S.T OR BS3 FOR FUEL AIR MANAGMENT.

Lets try to come up with something to allow Turbo cars to run in this class. I do agree with the No 2 power adders (Turbo/Nitrous) but maybe allow non intercooler cars to run at SBC weight and air to air weight with BBC? If I can get my car to make a nice pass next week I will see what it will run without the intercooler...

Thomas, don't let the BS3 box and intercooler scare you. I bet my car is more of a street car than others, I'm just missing the back seats because of the mini tubs. Other than that I still have all the heater core, blower motor, factory gas tank and door dinger still there. I think I can make it there weighing 3500, I just need to get the damn thing weighed to see how much weight I need to add. I should be getting some tires this week and testing next weekend depending how the wife feels.

I'm still running a 6AL box, I don't know really everything the BS3 box really does because I have not messed with it too much but I think I still need a 7531 box to ramp timing. Maybe someone experianced with the BS3 can chime in to give their opinion. I don't know what other turbo guys use but I'm sure they have to have some way to adjust the timing while making boost.

What would the turbo cars have to weigh? What about cars with Air to Air inter-coolers? Could we just add weight to keep from having to re-pipe everything? What about BigStuff3 or FASTXFI boxes? I'm still running a 6al box but without the BS3 my car would not even run.

I think the 26x8.5 tires would be good, it would allow some of the budget racers to buy a used set from the 8.5 outlaw guys. No wheelie bars will help keep some of the faster cars out.

ya joe i think we already got enough cars, i would just like to have a member ship fee so to pay for a pump , and keep all the rule making up to the pertiapants. need to have a meeting to vote on all rules before we start. the 8.5 tires would be great, i broke the trans three times makeing the radials work, but we dont what any conflicktion with the big boys. thats why were limited. i was likeing no 315 radials, that would allow acomidation for gear size ,i think any one can fit a 275/60/15 and then there is no more probems about someone haveing a bigger tire. we can also have little more cube limit and resrick there pill size to 73, but no larger than 440 sb and 500 bb. i think no matter what no kind of computor, controlled ignition will be allowed. p.s. no matter what i'm going to crack glassman chads ass.

i'm wouldnt mind anything over 472 limiting the jet to 73 but a majority will have to agree. and as far as the digital boxs go it would have 2 be majority vote. were just trying to keep it were the guy with the basic motor with even cast pistons can play. also i wouldnt mind the lexan. my be limiting it to no front lexan, and dont mind the cut floor pans, this is just a weight distrabution factor, and if we dicide to run no wheelie bars than that wont wont be a problem.

1. we're gonna need you guys to show up, not just beg for a rules exception and then yall never show face.
2. I think if we can get some guys together for this class im sure we can work it out where we could have 1 rule exception for 2 maybe 3 races. The 3 race exception would give you 3 months to get it right. More than fair i think.
3. I like the jet restriction for the cubic inch. IE.. 500 inch bbc only gets a 68 n20 jet. <-- just an example no set in stone thing

I agree Joe, we can run 26x8.5 tire. Make it an easily accessible tire for the budget guys. I prefer the radial but the 8.5 works well too. Just my opinions

I'm all for this class and think rules that are already on the site are a very good start but would suggest to keep the small blocks limit to 410 and big blocks to 502 since this is supposed to be a "budget street" class. Both combo's are with in reach of the guy on a budget. If the cubes aren't there for the small blocks then work out a weight reduction. Joe mentioned the problem with rookies getting a radial to work but it's still a street class and it would help keep the higher horsepower cars from dominating. Hell make them drive them to the track and not just unload at the entrance and drive in the gate. If someone heads up the class they could hang out around the gate to see that they get driven in. And also not only should all the street devices work (horn, blinkers, wipers, etc.) but should have CURRENT tags and inspection and also insurance after all it is a street car it should have it all. I understand Joe that the fans enjoy the fast high horsepower cars, who doesn't but this could be a very big class. The higher horsepower bigger cubed cars already have 2 classes tuff street and strictly street let them stay there or combine the 2 but let the smaller guys have some fun too.

If you're going to allow a 47x inch big block, why limit the small block ci? I'll be running a 434ci setup next year. Also, are you banning all digital boxes? I run a digital 6, the only things you can put in there is 1 single step nitrous retard, rev limiter, and 2 step. You can only delay the timing in one stage.
3200 lbs seems heavy too for a small block, but I could add weight. Any idea what kind of ET might be expected? 5.80-6.20? How about a light weight for all motor small block?

digital 6 box is ok, were talking about anything you can go into with a hand held our lab top and ramp timeing. were also thinking of allowing larger cubes sb and bb but have a more limited jet for them. our us. class should be in the 5.80-6.20 range so far daniel had the record at 6.09ish. if you could please leave a real name and stick with it so i can get a ball park idea on car count, so far 8 real name guys as long as we get those turbo guy lined out.

OK, here's my real name. I am building a 434ci SBF. Motor is being built more towards n/a performance since I can't afford a glide yet and don't really have a class that I can be competitive in heads up. Was just planning to index in 6.20.
I run a digital 6 box, nothing trick about my combo, AFR heads, solid roller, medium compression, C4 and 2950 lbs. Just looking to keep it n/a for now. I expect if I can run at 2900 lbs n/a it might run some 6.10s or so. Just building a dependable motor since I like to race and not spend money haha.
Car has full interior up front, but I haven't put the rear panels or rear carpet in due to the mini-tubs.

So many classes with the name street in them but very few street legal, driven cars. Who gives a shit about blowers, turbo's, nitrous, or balk-halfed. just run what you brung as long as it is street legal on D.O.T. tires with all working equipment, insurance and registration. Lets have some fun with this.

Here is a problem with a street legal class meaning legal inspections, legal registration, and all working street equipment with required smog and what not. People can come in with a 79 and older car that can legally be registered as an antique and doesn't have any kind of inspection at all required. So you'll have older cars that is going to put whatever they are willing to drive on the street in it. Meaning you could see a 1000 horsepower car run in it.
I think Strictly Street is about as close as you get, and how many cars actually run that class consistently?

Several years ago, Joe had the Street King classes. My old Firebird ran a few races in one of the lower ones (#8, I think?) - I think the break-out was 7.50. I would drive in from Baytown, and run on the same tires I drove with.

I don't remember very many other people doing this. Even in such a slow class, most of the people I ran against trailered in.

Having cars run that are REALLY street cars is a cool idea, but they just don't tend to show up.

theres alot to think about and comes into play with your situation. running a header that fits tighter to the body will bring your cross member into affect and how you will run your exhaust ect . also heat on the floor board and closer to the trans may also cause a problem . think it all through before you make a choice on what to do . take some measurments and also try to locate a cross member that has the half circle notches in it for the exhaust . chevelle headers work for these apps like a 72 chevelle .

i'm glad to see your ok and that the car did not suffer major damege, good job keeping it of the wall on the left
and i'm just trying to help but you got on the brakes to
hard after you saved it from the left wall you should let the car straighten it self out as much as you can and not panic and insist on the brake, i've been there many times
i hope you remember this specially at hmp at the shut down
area where the old finish line used to be use that chute then get on the brakes and not before

Not sure who ME is...but it's not the driver. And I did clip the left wall in the front. I did go for the chute once I straightened her out. However, when we installed it, it was to satisfy requirments at another track (never really planned to use it). It is set up next to the shifter and I couldn't make it to it before the car swung around, in retrospect it's in a poor position for emergency use. When the car is redone over the winter it will be relocated for easier access.

Shit happens, live and learn.

We run one in a 3200lb, 650HP S-10. It was .5 faster than an off the shelf TCI that we ran for 10 years without ever rebuildin it. We broke the Coan 3 times in 2 years, they told us we were doing something to the converter to tear it up. Cost us $500 everytime we sent it back. This last time we let a local converter/trans builder rebuild it. It picked up another .5 and we have run it for 2 years since then with no problems. It was breaking the sprags before, the local guy machined it for a bigger sprag.

Damn now I feel like we are in the heavy hitter world of out laws. Good luck getting that much power to hook on that tire. ???? I think kenny is bored and has too much time.

All you weight and rules whiners need to just quit. Every unsanctioned heads up class has ALWAYS had those certain few that kick everybodys ass and as long as this class lasts it will too. Hope Kenny does bring it out to spank that ass just like Ulsch is doing with 10.5 tires. And for those who say their car has no class to run in then you haven't looked hard enough or just can't run the one you want. Personally, I can't understand why anyone would put up the kind of money it takes to win in these classes for the miniscual return and that's only if you win. Might as well have a "buget class" for the whiners and have a buy back option like the dirt cars do. That sure evens the field. Just sayin!

what the fuck happened to run what u brung and hope u brung enough??? bring your fucking 8.5's and doors and run the event. If you're scared just say you're scared. Otherwise just open a "Budget class" like the other dude suggested. then you don't hear all the cryin about building a car for a class. whoever is building a car to win a $1000.00 class is stupid anyway. hell just run what you brung with three different tires (8.5's, trues, and w's) and watch the fuck out. That would be the shit and I bet you all of the old cars sitting in the garages might come out. you wouldn't even have to show times, just win lights that way. I'm just sayin, too!!!
