Hello, Suzi. You are experiencing a common problem. A light comes on or something is 'different' almost immediately after work or maintenance was done.
First, I would recommend that you call them and speak with them. Be kind and ask if they could question the mechanic that did the job. I think that you will find that they want you to return. I would recommend, also, that you return and give them the opportunity to 'make it right'.
Afterward, if they find that they are at fault, I would nicely 'hint' at an oil change coupon for your future return. That would at least ease the inconvenience that you experienced having to 'backtrack' for a total of two hours.
