In my report, I’ll mention five different addresses suggested by Vera, and suggest a new one:

http://www.crossword-compiler.com/ - This is an interesting website for English teachers who want to work with vocabulary in their classes. By downloading the software, the teacher will be able to get interesting crosswords to give to students during the classes without any hard work. Unfortunately I couldn’t download the software, but I guess it’s a good tip for those who are able to do so.

http://www.yourdictionary.com/ - I’d never seen such an interesting online dictionary. I thought it very useful, since it works properly for ESL students in general. If you are studying English for special purposes (reading, for instance), you can have access to a Portuguese – English dictionary, or to an English – Portuguese dictionary too. If you want to develop you four skills you can look up words on the English – English dictionary too. I tested the bilingual dictionary by typing the first word that came into my mind in Portuguese: “tipo”, and the dictionary quickly gave me different entries in English, also regarding the idioms we have in Portuguese with the word “tipo”. It’s a great dictionary in my opinion.

http://www.britannica.com/ - This link gives us the opportunity to research on any theme we want to. Britannica is one of the best encyclopedias in the world, and the website is also very useful. As a test, I typed the word “Paraguay”, and it gave me lots of different entries to the word. This website can be used by high school students who also want to improve their English. Also, ESL students who want to practice speaking will find a great opportunity to do so by reading about the topics they like.

http://www.clipart.com/ - It’s an interesting link for images. Sometimes ESL / EFL teachers always look for good pictures to make their classes more interesting, especially when they’re dealing with vocabulary, but they can’t find suitable images for their activities. By going to clipart.com, teachers may find many options for the same topic they’re looking for. For instance, if you want an image of a grape, you have more than twenty different options of pictures.

http://feelgoodpages.com/lovestorygame/ - I thought the “null story” very interesting. When I read it, I thought of options to replace the “null” occurrences. In my opinion, the story is not only funny, but is great to work with vocabulary. Maybe one can use it as an extra activity in ESL/EFL classes to have students practicing vocabulary.

My suggestion for a new address to a link is http://www.manythings.org/ In this website you will find different games and activities which can be used by EFL students to improve their vocabulary and grammar. There are different kinds of games, from anagrams to puzzles and multiple choice exercises. Besides vocabulary and grammar, there are also exercises that deal with slang and proverbs.
