>>Just thought those of you who didn't see this would be
>>interested (from Q Magazine, England):
>> You'd expect that a woman who spent the
>>70's "hanging out" with Jagger, Bowie & Warren Beatty
>>would have many a juicy tale. But Buell - model,
>>singer, nother of Liv Tyler and prodigious shagger of
>>rock stars - is primarily concerned with defending her
>>reputation in this dull tome. Even with rock scribe
>>Bockris helping her hold the pen, Buell is unable to
>>recount and incident without re-iterating that she was
>>a) beautiful, b)a musician in her own right and c) a
>>muse NOT a groupie. For every titbit about Jagger
>>wearing her lingerie, we must suffer the 'revelation'
>>that Prince (who she never even met) wrote 'Little Red

>>much too fast." A little honesty and humour wouldn't

I think the message board wasn't working for a few days because no new messages were being posted. The problem was fixed but quite a few message threads were gone when the board was back up and running. It happens sometimes. Anyway, old messages eventually get deleted so I don't think there's a big conspiracy to remove any discussion of Bebe and her sorry book. Please don't start spouting any conspiracy bullshit...you're going to sound just like Bebe! :-)
So it looks like book sales for "Rebel Heart" are dead in the water. Despite Bebe's crazy rants that showed an obsession with trying to control what people say about her and her desperation to have everyone like her, despite the fake positive reviews of "Rebel Heart" that were planted on Amazon.com and someone telling Amazon.com to remove the negative reviews, that didn't help her book sales. And I suppose Bebe will want everyone to believe that all the negative reviews she got from legitimate media outlets--from the London Times to Entertainment Weekly-- are part of a "conspiracy" too. I've only seen a few positive reviews for "Rebel Heart" in the press, and they were mostly in tabloid gossip columns that have questionable credibility. Hardly the best place for a serious book review.
Even the positive reviews talked about all of her wacky claims and contradictions. The majority of the reviews for "Rebel Heart" have been negative or mixed ... and a lot of them called her a groupie, even though Bebe keeps desperately denying she was ever a groupie. I think *a lot* of people heard how bad this book was and decided not to buy it. You can't stop bad word of mouth. If the book had been really good, it would've sold a lot more. All the negative reviews perfectly described what's wrong with "Rebel Heart." So thanks for reminding everyone that it wasn't just people on the Internet who thought this book was horrible. If Entertainment Weekly could name "Rebel Heart" one of the 5 worst books of the year (out of the hundreds of books that came out last year), then all the criticism about the book is legitimate. The fact is... the book FLOPPED big time because it SUCKED, and Bebe doesn't come across as a very likeable or honest person.
And I totally agree with you about Pamela Des Barres being miles above Bebe as an author and as a human being. Pamela doesn't need to write a book about Bebe. Pamela has BETTER things to write about in a book.
