Yes, I've noticed that Bebe has changed her story as time goes on. When Almost Famous came out she said it WAS based one her, and quite obviously had her publicists *really* push that point, probably trying to latch on to the success of the movie and sell some books, but as time went on she started backing off her claims more and more saying "well, it wasn't based *entirely* on me". DUH! Of course not, and now we have definitive proof that it was based on someone else completely, with a few other ideas thrown in from many groupies from the time, one of which may or may not have been Bebe. What I always wondered was, since Bebe is in denial about being a groupie, then why is she so obsessed with trying to claim that a movie based on a different groupie is actually based on her? I agree that the part where Penny Lane has the delusion that she's not a groupie sounded eerily like Bebe. What I thought was funny is it's supposed to be funny when Penny says "We're not groupies because we only give blowjobs" and the audience laughs at the ridiculousness of it, but in real life Bebe doesn't get the joke. After years of being passed around by dozens of musicians she adamantly says she's not a groupie, with apparently no clue as to how funny it sounds. The other thing that reminded me of Bebe, having read her book and knowing some other stories about her that she chose *not* to tell, is the part where she shows up in New York despite being told flat-out that she is not wanted, then making a scene and creating drama.
