Actually, Bebe has said Penny Lane WASN'T based entirely on her. She has said she thinks Penny is based on "a few girls". She has reiterated this in interviews, such as Portland magazine (I think it's online), and during chats for Playboy online. There is a chat transcript on her personal page. Of course, you could probably read the interview and chat and find OTHER things to criticize Bebe on, I'm sure. The only thing that stood out for me in the movie, as far as Bebe's potential influence, was the way the groupies insist they aren't groupies. They are adamant they AREN'T GROUPIES, especially Penny Lane herself. In Bebe's book, Cameron is quoted as saying "Bebe's pure joy was infectious to everyone around her." I guess, "She kept bugging me to meet Jimmy Page" was not a more desirable Cameron quote for the book! :)
