You got it, and you just scratched the surface. Not only are they written by the same person (who else would go to the trouble of defending Bebe in language that is so well known—who else thinks like that?)—a lot of those Bebe reviews have something on their agenda, whether it’s trying to get Aerosmith fans (or fans of Iggy or Stiv or Todd or cop-out mothers) interested or trying to get advance orders for the paperback. I mean, does she get up in the morning and plan this crap? Why does the little review board on Amazon.com matter so much? How is she able to submit so many reviews, and where does she come up with her names and locales? Personally, I’m more amused than outraged.
With mischief on my mind, then, I resubmitted a review I did last August but gave it 5 stars instead of 1. I originally wrote it as if I believed every word in her delusional book, so it was no big deal. I was interested to see if 1) Amazon.com would re-post a review they said “attacked Ms. Buell and was inappropriate for their forum” if it had a 5-star rating and 2) if Bebe would get it taken down if it had 5 stars. Well, they did post it again though they omitted the part where, after I wrote, “Five stars is too small: I only wish there was a way to give Rebel Heart a 100 star review” I said ,”as all these other reviews, done by independent, un-interested customers, will attest.” No matter—I think I proved my point. I remember someone saying that positive reviews did increase the sales of her book, but what are we talking here? Maybe a couple of copies? Ranking around 26,000 in sales is not the “bestseller” Bebe was hoping for. And in order to read the reviews, the poor sucker has to be interested in Rebel Heart in the first place. Worth it to me!
And one other thing that really bothers me: Bebe is always going on about how Mick Jagger proudly if facetiously claimed Liv to be his daughter. Not only is this in Rebel Heart but several books about Mick (the source always being Bebe Buell). Mick had a real daughter—Karis—that he wouldn’t acknowledge for years, and the wives in life found him notoriously cheap. You think he would claim paternity to a child he knew wasn’t his, to this big money-grubber? I mean, she could have gone after him left and right, like she did with Steven Tyler. Plus I think it’s really awful to use your daughter’s paternity for your self-aggrandizement. It seems Liv really had no father for a long time, and no mother either. To try and cash in on the story later, after your daughter is famous, is beyond disgusting.
