Ha, funny. I have a slightly more charitable take on this.

First of all, I don't think Bebe was as nutso back in her heyday as she is now. Notice that all the real bad stories we hear about her come from the last 10 years or so -- which more or less coincides with the time that she says her family forced her to seek professional help for her mental problems. And, frankly, I don't know how she could have functioned back then if she was as whacked out as she seems now.

Second, I have no troubling believing that Bebe could be very charming in small doses, even disregarding her looks. Many mentally and emotionally unstable people are. But the keyword here is SMALL. If you really read what she says in her book about her relationships with these guys -- not her rhapsodizing about how she felt and what it all meant, but the actual (alleged, who knows how much of that is even true) facts underneath -- it doesn't seem like she really spent much time with them. With Todd, it seemed like both of them spent most of their time chasing (and catching!) other people. With Elvis, during the nine months or so they were "together", she stayed in his apartment in London while her toured constantly, without her. (This surprised me. I had assumed Bebe was his "road wife" for a while, before he dumped her and went back to his real wife. But she wasn't even that.) A few years later, they met maybe a dozen times for sex. In between, he tried to have a platonic friendship with her, which she kept screwing up by being such a clingy, obsessive neurotic. That's her version of events, stripped to its bare bones.

Lastly, it's obvious from her book that for Bebe being manipulative and dishonest is a way of life. I'm sure that bought her some extra mileage from these guys, e.g., stringing Todd along about who Liv's father was. (Hmmm... okay, I guess I'm not being so charitable!)

With Elvis, he apparently ending up giving his security people standing orders not to let her in the same building with him, ever. Jeez! What does that say about her? Again, this is what it says in her book.

By the way, if you want a good laugh, check out amazon.com again and see Bebe -- oh, sorry, I mean "unbiased reviewers" -- trying to give her book credit for inspiring Elvis' new album. Ha! Too bad about the inconvient fact that the album was mostly finished before the book came out, and he performed these songs in public long before that. I heard him play "Alibi", a song Bebe seems desperate to claim, in concert almost three years ago. I think he even played it on the Leno show around that time. Of course, on Planet Bebe, I'm sure this news would only be greeted as more proof of his constant obsession with her, book or no book.

Too be fair, I'm pretty sure one of those reviews it a bit of satire submitted by one of our own mischeif-makers. But with Bebe, how do you tell the satires for the "real" thing?
