Sorry I haven't posted here in weeks. School is a lot of work. But who am I kidding?...the real reason is my pure infatuation with this radio DJ...lol.

*I'm warning you...stop reading this post now before you just want to slap some sense into me!*

I seriously have never had a crush on a guy so bad. He mainly works the overnight shift at the main radio station in the area as well as being a student at my college. I'm pretty sure he's a year older than me. On top of being way hot, from the little I have heard he has a great voice. He knows the words to like a billion songs by heart, he sang to me over the phone, and I should be getting an mp3 from him pretty soon!...his goal is to make it into the music business. We'll see. Anyway, I really need a reality check! But while the fun lasts for the time being if anyone wants to hear more about him or see some pictures of him let me know. I'll be MORE than happy to share, and I'm sure my friends would appreciate you lifting the burden so they don't have to hear about him 24/7...right Lynell? (I'm SOOOO sorry, but thanks for all your help! I owe you!)

Anyone still around. I check back here from time to time, but have just been wayyyyy too swamped to post. Anyway, this is the first year ISU has given us a week off for Thanksgiving, so I'm at home relaxing (yet still writing papers and reading for class...boo!) Nice to be home but umm, temperature shock! I know it would have been pretty much as cold down at school, but yesterday it was like 65 degrees here, and today it's in the 20's with snow flurries...brrr!

When I get back to school next week, maybe I'll try to write a little of what I've been up to. But until then, I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving with their families.

so i've been in georgia for week now and am waiting to go to bed. my roomate has already lost her key, so i get to stay up to let her in. woohoo! the weather is gorgeous, and we only ot a nice breeze instead of the hurricane. i have spent massive amounts of money on art supplies, who knew charcoal could cost so much? so far 2 of the 3 classes that i have seem really good. my western art history class though, man the professor already told us that half of us will fail his class if we don't drop out. cn i get another woohoo from the choir!? WOOHOO! well, i'm going to get ready for bed, but before i do. . . how is everybody?

so we just got back from a little show that my brother's band did at a party. they seem to be gelling really well with one another, but may be losing their drummer to a band that has already been signed. waaaaaah for them. they are sounding better at every show i've seen so far. my little brother is doing so well . . . squee!

we also just returned from savannah, georgia, where i'm going to be attending school this fall . . . in 3 weeks. the city is gorgeous and i can really see myself living there, but i don't know about being there without my family. i'm already starting to get weepy. lol. my brother's already written a couple of songs about not wanting me to leave *code for handing me some sheet music and me crying all over it*. ;) we'll see how i do . . . i just think i need to get acclimated. and it's only a two/three day drive back right?

well that's my life up to this point. how did moving back into your room go janelle? *remember to take deep, calming breaths*

It's been forever since I've posted anything on here, so I figured I'd drop in and say hello. Ahem...HELLO! lol Things have changed bunches for me over the summer, so I can only imagine how things have changed for everyone else. Janelle, I have totally missed our late night chats!
I also miss the random Tyler posts on here. So, I'll just let you all know that Tyler is doing awesome. He had an exciting summer internship in New York and several fun trips with friends to tropical places. I'm very proud of him... he's getting so close to graduation. Of course I'm not sure how much of his confidence (or shall I say ego, lol) this world can take. Watch out Florida cuz that boy is now a man. (Oh he'd kill me for saying something so cheesy, but do I care? Heck NO! I'm not skeered, lol.)

Hope you all have a happy and safe 4th of July. And let the weather be nice for fireworks (they're predicting thunderstorms in Chicago).

Friday is fireworks. Saturday is probably spent in longggg lines, baking in the sun at Six Flags...but it'll be nice seeing my friend that goes to school in Baltimore who is in town for the holiday that I haven't talked to in ages...the long lines on the most crowded day of the year will give us time to catch up. Sunday is most likely an afternoon bbq with neighbor friends and hopefully off to my grandma's town's festival to hear some live music at night...long story there (I'll tell it at a different date), but one of the members of the band playing called my house and told me that I and my dad have to introduce ourselves to them when we next see them in concert...I'm not actually looking forward to that though...haha!

So, got any fun plans?

This past week I've been going through boxes upon boxes of very old pictures and newspaper clippings, etc. I've been trying to get in some service hours for Mortar Board. I thought I'd be sorta bored with this job, but it's really interesting. I'm mainly ordering the pictures and stuff from my old elementary school so that my town's historical society can put some stuff on their website. Anyway, it's like a fantasy world when I look at pictures from like 1911!!! Wow, how things have changed from the days of the 1-room school house (obviously)! And the poor kids and the types of clothes they wore to school in the past...boys in full suits and ties...how uncomfortable! And to look at the articles talking about the latest technology through the years is almost laughable. I know this makes me sound like I'm living in my own world of only the present. It's just that you read about the past and see textbook pics, but to actually be touching crumbling pictures makes it all that more real. I think it would have been kind of cool to live back then.

And totally off the topic, but does anyone have any ideas on how we 3 children should celebrate my parents' 25th Wedding Anniversary in early August???? Yes, I'm kinda late with this. For years my mom's been dreaming up this big backyard bash with a DJ and old friends, almost like a wedding. But yeah, no way is their time to organize that :( Any ideas of anything special to do or a gift to give? We're actually going to that Ides of March concert in a neighboring town the day before their anniversary I believe, and since I'm "tight" with one of the guys(llam), I could see if they'd dedicate a song...but I feel way too weird asking anything of them.

new york was a blast. when we got there we went out to a deli for dinner than walked around for a few hours. we then proceeded to have disco dance party in hour hotel room (which was right over times square!) in the morning we ate breakfast, went to tiffany's (where i proceeded to get hit in the back by the revolving door and fall on my way in). we shopped, ate, went to the wax museum (where i took pictures of my styrofoam zebra, ewan, with as many fake celebrities as i could). we changed at the hotel where they proceeded to tell us that we were not allowed to leave our bags, so we carried all of our luggage to the theatre to see rent. the show was amazing. i cried through the second act. i have no words. ;)

i went on a few dates with eric, for sushi and a horror film most recently. sashimi is yummy, but not right before seeing '28 days later'. lol. i just had my graduation party and had what i would like to consider a buttload of fun.

so the moral of the story is, though i did not find any overtly large granny smiths in new york, i did find plate fulls of sashimi in north haven, ct. can i get a woohoo everybody?! amen.

so i'm a graduate of north haven high school. woo hoo! now with that said, i am picking up 29 extra hours for work next week. lol. i really know how to give myself a break right? i went bungee jumping with my best friend eric and his friend eric. butt loads of fun, let me tell you. i chopped off all of my hair . . . again. i have no self control. i also got my eyebrows waxed and came out with three bald spots in my left one. my mother told me "your right eye brow looks really good". thanks mom. ;) my best freiend gave me flowers, kissed me in front of my parents and asked if he could call me sometime. i said yes and it hasn't made it past 70 degrees for most of this week. so that is june up to this point. at least things have been interesting.

J.Roman, Deuce Project, O-Town (Trevor)! Alright, I'm really not a teenie, but tonight was just too much fun not to sound a little teenie typing this up.

* J.Roman (www.jromanmusic.com) opened up the show to tons of screams from the hometown crowd. Seconds before he took the stage, they mixed the Vi3 songs together. He came out and sang a bit of "Go-Get-Her." Then mixed up "Eyes Closed So Tight" to include his new slow song in the middle. Wow, the crowd reaction. He danced his ass off to the bangin' "Fake I.D."!!!! He closed with a cover song...there might have been other bits in there, but damn, the energy from the crowd during his show was off da' hook! The only thing I'm sure angered other Vi3 fans was that for all but like one song (not that he did many), he had 2 new guys doing backup dancing/singing for him....why not have kept Vi3 in tact then? By the way, it was like 100 degrees inside House of Blues, and we were packed like sardines. If you took your arm out to wave it in the air, you wouldn't find an inch to put it back down by your side. Some fans had been there since 4am!

* Deuce Project opened next. No one knew there would be another opener, so we were kinda bummed. They were good, but the crowd energy definitely dropped. They sang like EVERY song on their album. We all wished J.Roman would have been the second opener and stayed on longer.

* O-Town took the stage as the main act. Ok, not like a gigantic fan or anything, but they reallyyyy impressed me! Their energy was high. Erik had this baseball cap on for the first like 5 songs, then he took it off to reveal a hideous mohawk type strip down the center of his shaved head!! Their set seemed kinda short, too. I believe it was less than an hour. They didn't even do some of their older singles...even though I like the newer material much better. Only had choreography to a few songs; the rest were just rocked out with Ashley and Jacob on guitar most of the time...and sometimes Dan. And they played "Craving" which is my fave song on the new album...They said they had to really fight to get it on there.

By this point in the night, I was dying of thirst, so hot I was ready to pass out, probably bruised up and down my body from all the pushing/fighting, and my feet were numb. (It was sorta a flashback to the free Lenny Kravitz concert in Paris last summer!) So, it's 8:45pm, and we are sooo not going home this early. So we became groupies...haha. More on that in the reply!

i've crawled out of the mess of senior year alive. prom was cool. i went with my friend matt and had a good time. i finished my ap tests, which were on my senior skip days so i was a non-skipper. my hours at work got cut. i was put in charge of choreographing and mixing the music for the 'senior number' for my studio, which unfortunately was not a decision that all of the girls were happy about. i took a lot of flack but emerged with a smile and mucho compliments on the dance. woohoo. i just had my last show for my school and i don't know whether or not to be sad or exited. my mom was sad though, she made me get misty. lol. my best guy friend just 'mini-kissed' me and i'm confused. whaaaa. yup, and i go to the international competion for fps on wednesday and i graduate in two weeks. so that was may. hehe.

what's up with you guys?

Today I decided to take a break from cleaning house for a double graduation/21st Bday/50th Bday party that we're having here this weekend. Yeah, cleaning for my own party...woohoo!...Just kidding, it's more the graduations we're celebrating. Anyway, I decided to lay out and try to get a little tan. Well, it wasn't so pleasant or relaxing. 15-minutes in, a bird poops BIG time allllll over my hair....soooooo gross! I go inside, wash it out, and come back out. Ok, so my college town in central IL has a growing airport and planes flying overhead are becoming a lot more common. But wow, at home today was really annoying. Even while listening to a CD on headphones the planes for O'Hare were very numerous and loud. One flew over about every 45 seconds or so. They must be using a different runway today or have extra heavy traffic for the holiday weekend b/c I KNOW that those many planes never used to fly that low over our house in preparation to land in the past. The joys of living by such a huge airport!

Anyone here a fan of Michelle Branch?

I went to her concert at the Chicago House of Blues last night. I'm not a fan of hers (I don't dislike her, but I just don't follow her), but my friend needed someone to take a ticket. That was my first time to the House of Blues, and wow that place is SMALL! We were like 5-feet away from Michelle the whole night. Kind of a crazy concert though. It was supposed to start at 6:30, but there was no opening act, so they pushed it back to 8. It was just before 9 when Michelle finallyyy took the stage. Everyone was getting pretty annoyed standing/crammed together for so long, and my friend and I were starving b/c oh so wonderful Chicago traffic kept us from getting dinner before the show if we wanted a decent spot to view the concert from. (Ah, I wish concerts would come to The Odeum a LOT more. It's still super intimate but bigger than HOB, and practically in my backyard..haha) Anyway, she played a bunch of songs off her upcoming album, so no one knew those songs (they were really good though!). And I only knew her singles b/c I don't have her album. I loved how they re-mixed "The Game of Love" w/o Santana. I don't know...the concert just seemed really short. She only played for a little over an hour. She was really good at interacting with the crowd though.

I'm headed back to the HOB on June 12th to watch J.Roman premiere his solo career as an opener for O-Town. J.Roman (Justin) was a member of Vi3 (a Chicago "boy band") that had their single "Eyes Closed So Tight" reach Top 40. However, business got in the way and their label dropped them just as they were getting famous nationally. No one else would pick them up b/c they appeared to be a boy band even though they had a hip-hop flare to them. Justin was just going to write songs for other artists after they broke up, but when he submitted the songs he had written they told him to use them to launch his solo career b/c they were so good. Justin's one of the coolest guys in the business in my opinion. He sends out HUGE, totally honest emails to his fans, and also prides himself on replying to the hundreds of emails he receives..very classy! I'm really still here. I pop in to see if there are new posts practically daily. I've just been too busy to take the short few minutes to post.

School is absolutely insane as the semester is kinda winding down. I sorta started teaching last week, but this Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will really be the true test. I had to develop my own lesson plans (which with all the state standards are like 8 pages per day!!). So, now I get to teach those lessons to like a real high school geometry classroom...eeek! That also means waking up at the crack of dawn b/c my class is the first of the day. I'm pretty nervous.

In other teaching related news, I got my student teaching placement for next spring semester. I got my first choice, so I'll be teaching at York High School in Elmhurst, IL!!!!! :) I'm supposed to contact the cooperating teachers (I got 2 teachers which is kind of weird) that I've been placed with. What am I supposed to tell them?..."I'm your student teacher for practically a whole year from now"...Like they'd care...lol. Wow, this is starting to be a reality as the real world gets closer and closer.

And it's official, my brother is going to be going to college here next year, too. So he'll be in his first semester as a freshman, and I'll be in my last semester on campus as a senior. That's kinda cool to see him for a semester though.

I get inducted into Mortar Board tomorrow which is highly competitive and a huge honor! Only 40 people on campus get it a year. However, lots of service hours and meetings are tied to it. Since I'm only going to be on campus for a semester next year, I'm not sure I'll be able to fulfill the requirements (in which case I won't graduate with the honor and different colored tassel). Anyway, my parents are coming down for that ceremony and lunch reception.

Oooh, last week I saw the touring production of RENT when it came to campus. We had great 8th row seats, and I loved it.

What else?...Radio DJ crush is still in effect...lol. This obsession is nearing 3 months in the running now *rollseyes* I DID meet him that Friday of the talent show he was in back at the end of February. AND I got an unexpected hug from him!!! He sang absolutely awesome! It was one weird night though! It was hosted by a black sorority, so he and his supporters were pretty much the only whites there...llam. He officially competed by singing Stereo Fuse's "Everything," and made it sound exactly like the radio but even better since it was live. He took part in a little impromptu dance competition, too. With that I about DIED as he pulled out all kinds of funky footwork and then started grinding! I give him props for competing with the blacks when it comes to dancing. Later in the competition, he got up again to prove that he had soul, and sang "Lately" by Jodeci a cappella. We've IMed plenty since the, but that was the last time I had heard him sing up until this morning. Some young girl called into the radio and mentioned it was her birthday, so he broke out into his rendition of "Happy Birthday" which was beautiful. I about melted...haha.

Ok, now you're fairlyyyyyy caught up with what's been going on...lol. So, what have you been up to?

Aww, guys it's been sooo long since i've been able to update the Tyler page. I just FINALLY sat down, changed the look to a better one and approved all the guestbook entries and came to check out this! I had no IDEA people still USED this or even WENT to the page anymore! Its great to see that you guys are still here. You guys have been here all along, haven't you? Aw. And even Roy's here! this is so great! I'm gonna try to come here more often..! okay, i went to the dentist yeasterday (which is bad enough because sticking metal objects in my mouth scares me to death), and he told me that i have to get all of my wisdom teeth removed. have any of you guys had yours removed? give me some stories. hopefully i won't pee my pants when i go for my consult with the oral surgeon(is that how you spell it?) next week.

ps- i just bought a flowery disco dress . . . i could not be more exited . . . yup. that's it.

pss- nobody (janelle) is allowed to stress out. go for a walk . . . enjoy nature, well only if it's not 40 out like it is here. lol.

so yeah, i've been running around like a mad woman lately, and i come home to eat dinner to hear that my older brother mike, is joining up with the air force tomorrow. i'm so proud of him . . . but i'm scared out of my mind. so i may not only lose one of my best friends, tiff, but my brother. eek! we must think positively right? well, i'll try. that's it, i have a special 20 minute period set aside for an anxiety attack tomorrow after work and bobble head shopping, and before the movies. that will have to do for now i guess, i'm a little shocked.

ps- you're right about the whole pot thing janelle, i was just a little peeved at the entire situation, in the midst of a "pity me" moment, ya know?

so yeah, i went to this coffee shop, planet beans, to see a few punk bands, one of which we're friends with some of the people in it. i wnt with joey, and truthfully we are not punky in the least bit. so, we stuck out like sore thumbs, most of the people were making faces at us to leave which is always encouraging. never mind the fact that i was minorly accosted a couple of times by a very large man with fuzzy blue/black dreadlocks. so after dealing with that for a while, we left. our parents didn't want us driving into the city alone, so while joe's dad was driving us back to her place, he then grilled me about whether or not i smoked pot! me!!!!! i don't put anything unnatural in my body except for pixie stix and tylenol! i was needless to say slightly offended. i mean, i've been friends with his daughter for 5 years . . . what does he think, we go out and get high between school, rehearsal, work, and homework. ugh. and the people we hang with at the bookstore are such pot heads, ugh encore. so it was a poopy evening. yup.

hey rachel, you sing right? i have a huge question for you . . . i got a couple little solo things in a play i'm in . . . how the heck can i reach a high E above middle C. I can reach a strong D, but the E is really thin, and i tend to go sharp. i've dropped my jaw as far as will physically go, do you have any suggestions?

yup, i cut off all my hair again . . . just thought i'd get it out there. lol. i had some restraint this time though, only 5 inches, so it's hangin' somewhere around my ears. last time it was 8.

in other news, sorry i haven't been on lately, yet i have had play rehearsals everyday, so i think i've only been home to sleep and yeah, that's it.

janelle, stay warm! and relax at school, i don't want to get a call saying that you imploded from stress and/or a cold or anything. then again, if that happened, i don't know who would call me . . . and then again again, can people implode? let alone janelles?

i've decided i shouldn't be allowed to talk anymore. yup.

Yep, yep, I'm back on campus. Moved back in on Saturday in the beyond belief FREEZINGGGGG cold and MAJOR wind!!!

So, what do I have to look forward to this Spring semester?...

* Abstract Algebra (somebody shoot me now)
* Probability & Statistics
* Secondary Education (16 hours of class a week!!! - Observation and teaching included)
* History of East Asia

Why am I a math major? *bangs head* I'm almost done though...or I keep telling myself that. After this semester, only one more on campus and then back home to student teach at York High School. I still don't understand why we have to take all these math courses that go way beyond what I'd ever be teaching. It's great to have the background, but it'd be more beneficial to learn the high school math classes in depth and innovative ways to teach that material. Essentially, I'm getting a math degree with some education classes on the side.

And I bet you're wondering how much my book bill was (aren't you just a little curious?...come on, humor me). I paid $222 for only 3 books (2 of which are used). Oddly, there is no book for my Abstract Algebra class as of yet, so that should be very interesting (in all my years, never heard of a math class w/o text). I'm sure I'll be required to buy photocopied packets and junk, too. I'm going poor...lol.

I'm also still the coordinator for the tutoring program at one of the high schools near campus. Since it's the start of a new semester, I'm drowning in all kinds of work over there. At least I get some pay for my time this semester. I'm most dreading putting on study skills seminars. Why did I bring up the idea to include this component in the program in the first place?...making more work for myself again.

Well, I better get to bed somewhat early tonight. My winter break schedule of going to bed at 3:30am and waking up at noon isn't going to cut it anymore.

I should have been unpacking and getting organized today, but did I? No...lol

Anyway, it's been kinda quiet around here lately.

yeah, so i'm an idiot. i thought i'd just get that out of the way before i began my mini-rant.


ok, last week, over break, my photo teacher gave me an extra assignment because he wants to advance me or something. i spent a couple hours freezing by bum off taking pictures of the storm and other 'outside' and 'cold' related things. needless to say i was psyched to see how they came out. i get to class and find out that my teacher entered one of my pieces into not only the regional, but also the national photography competition, so i felt like even more of a dolt when i did the unthinkable . . . while trying to get my film into the developing tray . . . i exposed the whole role!!!!! that takes talent my friends, i'm talking all 36 frames of it! lol. i suck.


in other news, i got to leave work early, and now i get to watch 'george of the jungle'. woohoo!

Hey, hope you all had a great Christmas, and Tyler, I hope you received everything that you wanted for Chrismas and enjoyed your time with your family. My Christmas with my daughter was quiet, just like I wanted it to be. She and I are family, and that's enough for me.
Now as for New Years...no plans yet...possibly a party, possibly a ride to Orlando(we have friends there)...we are not sure yet. Hope your plans are solid and exciting, whatever they may be. The year went by so fast, didn't it? I did so many things, and I do remember when my daughter and I met Tyler at a benefit for breast cancer in Orlando...it was a highlight for us. My brothers and I have been on a mad search for an Ides of March (group from Chicago w/ a couple old hits) CD for my dad...even in their hometown, they aren't stocked very well! The Oakbrook Borders Books & Music said they had one copy of an older album, but by the time we got there it was sold. At this rate, I think it'd be easier to just book the band for a gig...lol...or on a cheaper note-pop in a recording of my old marching band/pep band performances of a couple songs. I've now found where I can order the CD (without using a credit card online), but it will take 3-4 weeks for delivery...so maybe a 50th bday present this summer. But by then he'll probably have seen them at some local summer concert series thing and bought the CD he regretted not buying last time...one can never win...lol. Rachel, ever heard of this group or seen them perform live?...they aren't bad.

I've got quite the eventful week coming up...a VERY traditional Polish Christmas Eve at my dad's parents', then Christmas with my mom's side of the family, 26th is my brother's 18th bday, then I'm going on an overnight trip with old friends to a tobogganing resort in Michigan, the following day is my mom's bday and we're going to a party to see a great aunt & uncle who flew in. By then, it's New Year's Eve...don't know what I've got planned for that yet...BT and a bunch of DJs are spinning in my town, but as much as I'd like to go, I'm sure I won't.

Anyway, I wish everyone that visits this board Happy Holidays and a great New Year!
