I must be the only seventeen-year-old girl in the country with his pictures on my bedroom walls.

Michael Vaughan, yes. James Anderson, certainly. Andrew Flintoff, perhaps. But I sincerely can't see anybody your age with a picture of Nasser on their wall. I think that in running out Michael Vaughan before cashing in on the lacklustre bowling and toothless pitch, he was the epitome of coolness. Of course, there's the old adage about after running someone out, make sure you get their runs as well as your own. I'd like to think that in his own mind, Hussain got himself fifty, and then got Vaughan out on 45. Just cos it's funny.

If I remember rightly, Lorna was playing in the game of Snap I utterly failed at, and despite being only twelve, managed to act much more violently than me and most other people (you excluded, clearly). Maybe that should be a because actually, as young people do tend to be randomly violent, and to have quite a talent for it.

If you're going to a business breakfast, you expect all the trimmings- and when you end up with a half-cold piece of toast and a nasty cup of coffee, you can feel righteously hard done by. Especially when it's your half-term.

On the other board, I usually sign myself TCH, so don't be surprised if I start doing that here, it's just reflex.

TCH
