So, yes, it's nice to see that Vaughan can bat again, and Thorpe averaged above 80 in this match, (despite cheating by only being out once, I'll grant you). You remember that series where Nasser Hussain got bad decision on bad decision given against him? I believe that was in Pakistan. There's something about the sub-continent that doesn't like him much. In any case, he'll be fine, he still seemed very angry when I caught some of the highlights in the Bar the other day.

Clarke's only a stopgap measure for Freddy, so that's alright. The saddest moment was that Chris Read didn't score any runs in the Test Match after being on red hot form in the warm-ups. And it appears Hoggard and Harmison work well together. Now if only Giles could spin the ball...
