I am writing in regards to my oldest daughter April. Last year on September 25, 2003 April lost her oldest daughter at 16 years old to cancer. Her daughter's name is Tamika. She died from AML - a form of usually adult leukemia. April has 7 children total. She has always worked and paid her own way. April held a job at the same company for the past 11 years. She worked her way up from the receptionist position to the Applications Manager and she made a comfortable living. While Tamika battled the cancer for almost a year( which is not very common for this type of leukemia) - April's job was very good to her and kept her on with pay and benefits. This being important because of the health insurance and Tamika's treatment. April was told that Tamika went into remission from the cancer and could leave the hospital on April 15th, 2003 All was well for a two months. Tamika was an honors student and played sports, especially basketball. Tamika began summer school so that she may catch up and graduate on time, and April went back to work full time. Tamika unfortunelty relapsed at the end of June. This was the beginning of the end. The entire summer April, her children's father Steven, and all children spent the summer at Children's Hospital to spend Tamika's end of life with her. Tamika passed away in September, and April went back to work in at the end of October. They laid her off in February of 2004. April just found a job in the past two weeks - at less than half her pay. I am so nervous because I know she and Steve will not be able to have a decent Christmas for their children. April's life has been in total disarray since Tamika was first diagnosed. The other children have suffered the loss of their sister and to a certain extent the loss of their mother and father( due to the depression from losing their oldest daughter). I know they are in danger of being evicted and utilities shut off. I help out with food when I can - but I cannot help enough. Tamika meant alot to alot of people, as April does. Her former boss has set up a yearly golf tournament in Tamika's name to honor her and to help out one of the foundations that could April. Please HELP them have a good Christmas and if there is anything else you can do with some of their other bills would be wonderful.

Thanking you in advance,

Donna Lee
