Subject: A great movie

I wrote this long message in the "guest book" but decided to cross-post it here, because its much more involved than a simple "I liked this movie!" and signature. I welcome comments!

I was on the computer writing a few nights ago, the TV on "in the background"...and this unexpectedly came on the late-night movie. I'm so glad it did! It contained the things I value most in life: love, poetry, passion (it even had one of my favorite animals!) I couldn't believe I'd never heard of this movie!

I am a very romantic, sentimental person. Frankly, I often find myself identifying with, and being deeply touched, by movies that many people seem to not think much of...

I would highly recommend this movie to any young person (especially female) who is dealing with issues surrounding their sexual identity, because it deals with it in such a straight-forward, non-judgemental manner, showing the beauty of all love, but also the challenges society may cause. However, I do not for a moment think this is a "gay" movie...Pauline said it so well, though I can't quote her exactly: that it wasn't a girl loving a girl, it was Pauline loving Tori! Under-scoring the point that love happens between two individual hearts, and transcends labels!

I'm a 40 yr old straight male (about as far from a teenage girl as you can get!) and it didn't keep me from feeling a strong empathy with the anguish of Pauline! Anyone who has loved has felt at some time the pain that peirced her proud, fiery heart! (I also struggled in my past with depression and thoughts of suicide, so I could understand her too well on that level).

It was odd, because not only did I identify with her, I also felt that if I had known her as Victoria did, I would have fallen helplessly in love with her! There was so much to admire in the characters spirit!

I am grateful to you for creating this site... I wanted to know more about the Shakespeare quotations in the movie, and some other details. Great site!
