Well, Paulie received that Mouse's father didn't come to the "festival" and that she was sad about it - she cried!
She was disappointed and Paulie also got experiences like that because of her mother who didn't want to see her!
If I were Mouse I would also hate my father..
First he sent her to that school, far away from home, he didn't write her letters and finally he didn't come to the festival and Mouse is "alone"!
But you are right.. The two HAD (!!) a good relationship..
