i think it's more about a "you love who you"-love, that labels the love between Tori and Paulie... it's the human "Paulie", Torie once felt in love with and she did not care about her gender at all i guess.

Lea once said about Tori:

"Even though Victoria will go on after Pauline's death, there will be the question if she ever will be happy again. "

I think that says a lot about Tori...
