What I really loved about the movie is that the movie isn't about sexual orientation. That you just love who you love. People who are straight will fall in love with someone who is the same sex as them because they love the person inside. Same goes the other way. You hardly see that in movies--that love transcends gender.
I probably love this movie because it's so similar to my current relationship. We've been best friends for 4 years, and romantically involved for a year and a half. She's very religious and if her family found out it would kill her. And me, I don't really have much of a family, and don't care what they think very much. We didn't set out to fall in love, that was the last thing we would ever think would happen to us. I think Tori and Paulie were best friends, and sorta just fell into being lovers--like me!
So, what is my [and Tori's/Paulie's] sexual orientation? To the world, being involved with another girl would automatically make us lesbians. But we like guys, generally. And to the world, that would make us bisexual. But I wouldn't ever be with another girl, just the one I'm with [just like I think Paulie and Tori wouldn't]. I'm glad Lea made something that people in my situation could relate to. Why does everyone always have to be gay, straight, or bi? Why can't we just love whoever we love?
I also like the fact that it's not a famous movie. I think if everyone in the whole world saw it, it would make it less meaningful for me. I like having a small group of people liking it, because then we can get much more personal.
And I'm glad Jessica, Piper, and Mischa could see beauty in this movie and did it regardless of whatever controversy it would gather.
