i agree with you. Jake was in my eyes an easy way to get out of her current relationship and to prove to the public she is "not like that" (remember Tori talking to Allie: "So, you’ll tell your friends, right? You’ll tell them the truth, that I’m not like that. ")

the second part of your question is hard to answer. Tori is a character written for L&D, so we can only guess about the real life. i guess there are a lot of possibilities that could have happened. but, as i think Léa Pool described a pretty realistic story, it's possible that Tori might not have had changed her decision, even she knew about the consequences.

it's so easy to blame others to have an easy life and don't doubt your own acting, and that's what Léa in my eyes is trying to tell us.

but one thing is for sure true as well, those of the people, who understood/ understand L&D would think things over and act different.
