Subject: 8 minute abs or anything else you can do in 8 minutes

Good morning world, I hope all of you had a health and low fat Valentine's day, or at least the best that you could do. I know my wife and I did the "best" that we could, but even with a few of those areas in which we fall over into, as long as you don't let them just rule your life and you think that all is lost, then you should be okay if you get back up and run the race again today.

I hope you noticed the title of my post today. As of late, there has been a certain young woman in the area that has recieved a certain amount of attention due to a program that she claims got her in the best shape of her life in only 8 minutes each morning. The program, which was popularized on the Regis and Kelly show on t.v. by an L.A. personal trainer and then promoted in Womens' World magazine, should have been the first indication that this was a marketing gimmick. But regardless of the hype, this young lady put her hope in the program.

Now the young lady is getting a lot of attention because she has reshaped her body, lost a lot of weight and is competing in beauty pagents with some success. Now I understand that she is going to L.A. for film an infommercial. Here is my question to all of you. Have you ever seen an infommercial that has ever sold a credible product other than maybe a few hair care products or maybe the Ronco Rotessorie?

When it comes to exercise and weight loss, our society is so gullible and desperate they will hook their wagons to anything that promises even the slightest hope of success with little to no pain. Of course that is what this 8 minute program is about. You do an 8 minute workout first thing in the morning, or at least this young lady did, and you can slim down and shape up just like she did.

Okay, here is where I switch over into my professional mode so get ready. I am not saying this lady did not have "some" success with this program, but with the throrough understanding of physiology, it is highly doubtful that she got into that kind of shape only working out 8 minutes a day,6 days a week. If that were the case, then everyone would be in great shape and never have to worry again about dieting or exercise. Just do 8 minutes a day.

In fact, why should anyone ever do anything else again to get in shape and lose weight other than this program? You see, I have trained state level competitive body builders, beauty pagent competitors, models and cheerleaders and to date, I have seen only one thing that works and works well and that is hard, work...very hard work. I have never seen anyone get in shape in only 8 minutes a day. In fact, I will go on to say that if someone is saying they got in shape in 8 minutes a day, chances are highly probable they are doing something else along with it.

Also, I have been a participant in the past of these so called "Transformation Contests". In fact, back in 1999, I placed in the upper 5% of my category in the EAS transformaiton contest called Body for Life. You had to take a before and after photo, have a before body fat test, then exercise, diet and take their supplements. Then you finished up by having an after photo, after body fat test, and write an essay detailing what you did to get in shape. Now here is the catch. All you had to do was only ONE EAS supplement in order to qualify. Fact is, many people actually used other products and methods to lose the fat and get in shape, but all they had to do in the essay was give credit to EAS for providing them with a so called state of the art supplement to help them transform. And if you won, you got a brand new Corvette, and $100,000 grand prize.

The point I am trying to make is this. Don't believe everything you read. When I worked on the railroad many years ago in the rail gangs, we had a saying. "Don't believe anything you hear or read and only half of what you see." I think that can apply here in this situation as well.

I congratulate the young lady for getting in such great shape, but I do ask her to share with everyone what she really did to achieve that end result because it wasn't accomplished in 8 minutes a day.

Have a strong and healthy day.
