Well, "Amazed", I was very surprised to see names with the job titles, and wish they had been eliminated before the posting on Voy. Rest assured that there are very few of the names listed that I can put faces to, even after 14 years in the City.

That being said, I think you have to look at this from the taxpayers' points of view. The City is a Corporation, and we, being the shareholders, are entitled to see the detail going into these budget decisions. Notice I said the details, not the names. Since my husband and I are both the victims of recent downsizing, he knowing for the past year, and I being caught completely by surprise, believe me when I tell you that it makes no difference whether you know or not. It's still just as devastating, one way or the other.

Now put yourself in the place of the 'shareholders' of this City, and imagine that you are losing your home because you can't pay the ever-increasing taxes. Do you care whether or not those $60+ per year City jobs have names attached to them? Of course not. It may sound harsh, but since it appears that you work for the City, you must know that a lot of these positions are paying overly-inflated wages for the 'titles' involved, and the work put forth.

If our City 'leaders' were open and honest with us on their budget proposals, and we really were sure that they were making the cuts necessary to avoid huge tax increases, then there would be no need for the pay charts to be listed on a forum board. We would be given copies of the charts posted here (minus the names, of course) and everything would be above board. Unfortunately, like most dirty little secrets in government, the truth does come out. As one of the 'shareholders' I'm glad it did.
