The Taylor Law clearly states that a union must negotiate with their employer. The city Council is not their employer The City of Newburgh is. The Council is the legislative Body.
Councilwoman Christine Bello has every right to file charges against the Union and should. The Union violated the Taylor and could lose their rights to represent the Fireman Union. When people become Union Presidents and vice Presidents, they should read the laws they represent. You do not negotiate with the City Council. In addition, when you threaten a Council member by intimidation you lose all creditability. Is there another motive behind this like covering up the loss of $450,000 at election time?
