Subject: Fire Chief Gone

It has come to this writer's attention, that the fire chief has put his letter of resignation in. He put out a letter to the State Chiefs Association, basically saying the city has animosity towards him, and would not seek to obtain a waiver for him to continue employment. His tenure has been lackluster to say the least. This departure may further be fast tracked, due to the alleged theft in codes by a worker taking money for free services. For something like that on your watch, in your office is a sign of lack of supervision, and no checks and balances in financial transactions. Tell you what, whoever wanted that audit, they were right to suggest that. It smells of corruption, another John Aber and the boat launch fiasco. Further, it has also come to the writer's attention, there is no longer a narcotics unit in the NPD, that would explain the open air drug markets in the city, and most notable, the food truck gun and drug running right across the street from the courthouse. Hope Newburgh gets their house in order, for the sake of its citizens, and the community at large.
