It's easy to stay in operation if one can cut business expenses by laying off personnel, increase income by what Bastiat called 'legalized extortion'. Still have a deficit? No problem...tap the muni bond market. What, still running short of $s? No problem, a consortium of private banks will conjure up $s in exchange for a lien on your assets, under the guise of a benign acronym. The eCONomies have been exponentially borrowing against the production of future generations. Who's going to work at such a place? Public workers who understand the game. Don't like the hand dealt? Take a claim and move to the next table.
