RK wasn't it the republicans who voted that first bill down? Wasn't it Pelosi and company who said they should have approved it? So I'm getting confused here. Bush and cronies wanted the bill... that much I understand and that makes me suspicious enough. But then didn't the Republicans in Congress see through it and vote it down?

I think this mess is such a can of worms that very few of our elected officials understand it... which explains Hinchey and Hall voting differently. I'd rather see that $700 billion put in the hands of the poor or used to cover the losses of the American people. I think there's something wrong with giving it back to the same power brokers that caused this mess. I'd rather concede my loss and not pile this debt on future generations.
