The reason we have a police commissioner is because the mayor wanted one. He thought that would somehow solve the police overtime. So they started moving forward with the Commissioner’s position without doing their due diligence and then found out that NYS requires a Police Chief whether or not a commissioner in place.

I believe the Commissioner still lives in the Larchmont area. I had heard though (maybe it was faulty info I read on here) that the Chief had his home here in the City of Newburgh. If he doesn’t live in the City of Newburgh, where does he live? He certainly can’t be commuting here from Watervliet.

At any rate, in his position with NECSD he does not have to reside in the City of Newburgh.
