Subject: Mid Hudson Times Shills for Valentine, Mejia

We expect such crap from the THR, but never has a reporter been so kissykissy to the wrong public officials-candidates as Gaul. He published a deceptive resume from the exiting city manager. He said that a ruling that stated the city was due the $$$ from the marina proved the mayor and Angelo were in the right. This week he goes off the deep end- with the mayor looking over his shoulder- reporting only one side of the YMCA story as if their laziness and attitude was not part of the problem, as if their failure to follow procedure and have their financing in place- or even possible- was not a problem. As if the 3-2 council vote was "against the YMCA" when it was against the bumbleheads who tried bumrushing a resolution without any time to review the proposal. If it is indeed the Y's "mission to service the community", and that the City of Newburgh rejected the Y's attempts to "locate" within the city, why did they abandon the city 10 years ago on Grand Street? They were already located here. No one chased them out, they left on their own. But Gaul is too lazy to report that well-known fact. In his cheap political scribe, he continues to talk about Mejia as if she's a serious candidate. From anyone familiar with political campaigns, signs are damaged, not by other candidates, but by kids with nothing to do. The longer they're out there, the more they get damaged, especially when there are no others around. His insinuations are petty and as childish as the kids who damage those signs. "An early lead"? More like a combination of a desperate attempt to get her unknown name out there before the real campaign begins and political naivete. It's a long three months before the primaries, hope she has funding for many more signs.
