Dear Friends,

The day after an election is always bitter-sweet, the backaches, headaches, after the game coaching and the opportunity to finally rest your body but not your mind. The people of Newburgh decided to give the incumbent another 4 more years. I would like to publically congratulate Mr. Burger for his victory as Orange County Legislator, 4th District.

During the campaign season all of Mr. Burger’s opponents stated the need for him to communicate more with the constituents and to take a more assertive approach to dealing with Newburgh’s challenges. I truly implore him to do so. On a weekly basis during the campaign season Mr. Burger has sent to the public many pieces of literature asking for their vote. I hope that he will continue reaching out to the community by informing us of what is happening regarding our issues on an annual basis.

A mandate by the people has been set. I hope that he seizes this opportunity to take on the many challenges that we face here in the city of Newburgh: affordable housing, education, crime reduction, youth programs, restorative justice, social service challenges, transportation and so much more.

I encourage all of the citizens of Newburgh and the surrounding areas to support Mr. Burger in his endeavors, question his decisions and to hold him and all of our leaders accountable so that we may push our city forward.
