In reply to: Reporter 's message, "26 Year Resident Won't Go Out Without Her Dog" on Thursday, November05, 06:22:pm

(Just a correction: Midhudsonnews.com.)

"NEWBURGH – One resident who lives in the neighborhood were (sic) the city’s latest murder occurred says she would like to see more of a police presence there."

First of all, is Montgomery St the same neighborhood, despite its two block proximity? I don't think so.

"Pane also feels that the neighborhood is one of the nicest in Newburgh and that it would remain that way if the police would patrol there.
'Right now, we’re sliding down hill. We have people come through on nights and break into cars.'”

People have been breaking into cars there for decades. 10 years ago (during one of the city's/neighborhood's recently safer times), on Clinton, between Grand and Montgomery for instance, a woman was violently mugged in her car. She moved soon after.

“I love this neighborhood and right now we are seeing that police have cut back on their patrols.” That has resulted in escalation in vandalism and violence."

Although the police have always patroled the area, it hasn't ever been heavily patroled.

What, may I ask, is this story about?

Perhaps rather than some woman on Montgomery Street, it should be about the obvious drug corner on Clinton and Liberty that is known to almost the whole world at this point, and why it can't be shut down.
