All businessess at one time or another have had their economic ups and down. In order to weather out the storm businessess will take measures such as scaling back production, inventory, jobs and yes salaries. While I agree this should not be about personalities, any department head worth their salt should be able to produce revenues to cover salaries. The city has one department that is managed as a sucessful businees entreprise, that being the Water Dept. On the other side of the spectrum is Eco. & Planning, with the mission to attract and retain businessess, creating jobs and therefore generating tax revenues. This was never accomplished to this day. A $91,000 salary for inexperience does not justify taxpayers compensating this department or other department heads. Elminating waste, and postions for which nothing has been produced will lessen taxpayer share of the financial burden.
